Picked up a ton of Necrons through some trades, and I figure it'd be fun to hit the table with them before I decide if I am keeping them. Never played, so I have no idea what I'm doing.

1850

Necron Lord with Res Orb
60 warriors
2 monoliths
10 destroyers

Comes out to 1810 points.

I've also got 3 wraiths, 10 immortals, a tomb spider and bout 20 more warriors in the stable.

Please bash/suggest away!!

*Dips finger in mixture and tastes it* Hmmm... needs more destroyer...

60 warriors in 1850? Dang! well at least your phase out is good, it's at 53, not bad, but you should put another res orb on the field

PS. don't take my advice to heart because im new to necrons, im just kind of going off the basics.

Yes this is key most armies wont have a problem killing 60 warriors (thanks to sweeping advances) unless you give them something to think about. Use destroyers to open up those transports moving assault units into position stranding them mid field.

I will confess Ive never played this many warriors even at higher point values... although my gut tells me spamming the necessary liability unit of every Necron army doesn't make it "good" but that doesn't mean its bad either.

I would be interested in seeing how this fairs on the table top, with most players me included, going for min warriors and maxing out the other killy parts of the army it would be different.

dude that list looks like tons of fun! a big block of warriors in the middle, sit a lith on each forward corner, put the destroyers in a row in the front and watch the hijinks ensue.

Well, 60 Warriors seems scary at first sight but it isn't.
The rule of sweeping advance, as said already, will help the enemy to wipe out Warriors in cc.
You better take some variety: Wraiths, Immortals, Spiders.

Are the tomb spiders any good? Looking at them, their coolest ability, making scarabs seems like a kill point liability on paper.

The wraiths and immortals do seem kind of fun though.

Some people swear by them, others never take them

Personally im somewhere in the middle more for their ability to be a speed bump more so than their 12" WBB bubble (although it can come in handy.)

Remember if you only spawn 1 scarab base it counts as toughness 6 which makes it a 4 wound T6 unit with the ability to get a cover save because of the low profile.

One can easily wrap up a Str 4 assault group power weapon or not for a couple turns. Fists mash them up very good though so be wary of that.

They also don't count towards PO so mine mostly get ignored in favor of shooting the warriors that are always nearby.

They are never my first choice for the HS slot but I've been pleased with mine in the games I've used it

Lol, I forgot to add the destroyers, stupid excel!! Its more like 2300.

Hmm...guess I will have to cut the destroyers or the warriors. Necrons are freakin' expensive!
