Sorry- moved to correct forum

Alright!? Right I'm not sure if it's correct procedure to post an article I've done on the forum but here's the link anyway, I'm sure you'll let me know if it's not quite cricket!

very nice

did you add anything extra to the paint for the rockface to try and stop the polystyrene texture coming though? Thats the main issue with all the scenery I make from the stuff.

I know what you mean! Because the cuts are quite angular the polystyrene doesn't really show through, if it does i normally put on a little bit of PVA and water, it acts as an undercoat and the paint covers it a lot better

Heating a blade like a scalpel or modelling knife can in some circumstances cause the blade to fracture due to thermal stresses. While this isn't very likely, it isn't predictable. Wearing protective glasses is recommended.

A hot wire cutter is the best tool for cutting expanded polystyrene.

You can cover the bare polystyrene with a layer of PVA thinned slightly with water and mixed with plaster or talcum powder to create a good surface for paint to key on to.

I would use cheap paint on hills. GW paints are very expensive for covering large areas of terrain. THe kind of matchpots you can buy at DIY stores for testing household colour schemes are ideal.

Your end pic looks nice!

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
