OK, i think the official rulign on assault is 6" to get base to base contact.

But Defilers and suck done have bases per say.....so do you measure to the hull (the main body of the model) or "within strikgin distance", whcih to me would be the reach of the claws?

The reason i ask is that, if your model has its arms spread wide, you coudl, in theory, rotate the model slightly in the charge movement to gain an extra fraction of an inch and get into charge range.

No, you can't. You have to move the Hull into btb contact.

OK, cool. So all movement and assault measurements are dene, essentially, from the hull edge, not including the legs and claws.

Cheers.

Does that go for the Defiler being shot at as well? If someone can just see one leg but none of the hull, is the model condiered to eb in LOS?

The "arms" are probably not part of the hull.... but the leg of that machine probably do count, otherwise, you would have to be on top of the enemy to charge or be charged when using a defiler.

What is the consensus on that? Legs +body count as hull, or only body?

As per the Walker rules (page 72: 'Measuring Ranges) you measure to the hull, including legs and other limbs.

so the hull of a defiler basically folllows the edge of the limbs and claws. for both assaulting and being shot at.

No, the hull of the defiler is the hull, including the legs and arms. The space in between the legs is empty space.

The rules are in there somewhere that actually state the legs of the Defiler as an example
