So, along the lines of my Satyxis Raiders from blood witches, what would you use to represent/count as, in a friendly environment, the Nyss Hunters.
I have heard it mentions much (maybe just a little jokingly) that they Nyss Huners are quite annoying to put together, worse if you are the kind that needs to pin everything.
Is it really that much of a nightmare.
My suggestion here is much more 'frowned upon' I'm guessing because I'm thinking of useing GW WFB Dark Elves Corsairs with handbows to represent the Nyss Hunters.
I suppose the answer is: "whatever you want" though.
I have some random DE stuff (misc. old Corairs, sorc, 2 boxes of Corsairs)..... though I think it would be easier to just start WFB with that stuff lol.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

seven pieces each. I think they are some of the worst models I have ever had to assemble because its like a plastic elf with the separate arms and whatnot but all in metal. whoever sculpted/cast them got lazy on the weapons too, the sheathed swords are actually just the empty scabbard part with a tiny sword handle to put on.
If you want a conversion taken seriously youll want to make sure they have all the right weapons and look reasonably elfy.
If I was to so it all over again I think a box of, mage hunter strike force, blighted archers/swordsmen, or hex hunters and some new swords and extra bows would be the way i went. still might be since i dislike the nyss sculpts.

That's not laziness, actually: About half the Nyss are carrying bows, the other have their swords drawn. The handle bit is for the ones with bows, as the ones with swords would look rather silly with two.
While they're somewhat annoying, it's not actually that hard to assemble them. I got a full unit assembled in under an hour.

ten nyss hunters in an hour? I couldnt even do that if i didnt pin. cleaning the mold lines off all those tiny pieces took about an hour itself.
I understand what you mean with the sword handles but its such a tiny breakable piece and they sure didnt go and make empty hands for the bows to go into the way they handled the swords.
I should clarify in saying that the sculpts and quality of the pieces is high but i still thing the number of little parts brings the models down.

The extra bows are kinda meant to go on their backs...
But yeah, didn't bother pinning mine except for one or two. The arms can be a bit tricky to line up on the swordsmen, but the bitz on the back have plenty of contact area against both the back and each other.

Not only is the unit near the hardest ive ever asembled, i feel they under perform everytime i use them, If i go bold they all die. if i hold back, i hold back 10 pts of my army handicaping myself when the forces actualy clash together. I like LOOKING at thier rules: weapon master, CRA, spd7, def15. They should work great with Ashlyn who mirrors most thier abilitys.

I was thinking of doing some sort of head swap. The Nyss have ugly, ugly heads. Like, helmeted Dark Elves/Dark Eldar heads or something.

There is a thin semantic line between weird and beautiful. And that line is covered in jellyfish. |

I got mine the other day and was also thinking the males in the unit have ugly, ugly heads. Having just come from my friend's place who was showing off his new Dark Eldar codex I was thinking the same thing about stealing his extra heads to swap out, though I was aiming for the non-helmeted ones myself.

FYI, the new Dark Eldar heads, at least the non-helmeted ones, are a near perfect size match for the Nyss heads.

Just drilled out their neck holes to make room for the larger knobs on the Dark Eldar heads, and Presto!

Hah, I built a Skorne pack for someone. I loved it. All the cutting I did on that Titan, I must have made the lightest titan in existance! But I did pin the SOB, every horn, the flag on the back had two or three pins, the body itself had 6 pins. Good challenge, but yeah... it took forever to get things to be built the right way. If you didn't have tools... sheesh... nightmares.

Heads look okay. Can you put up a pick wen you prime them? The difference in material makes the transition jarring to me.
Also, maybe you should cram the scabbards on their backs. Those claymores are a bit long to hang at the waist.
For mine, I wasn't even going to use the scabbards, bows, or quivers.
Cleaner looking models without them, The bows and quivers seemed too big anyway.

Yeah, but given how the PP elf heads looks compared to GW's, I consider that a good thing. The new Retribution stuff looks good, but all the other Skorne and Nyss such "dark" elves just look really bad.

I guess opinions vary, I personally like the fact that they don't look so elvish.

I really like the conversion ADURO, Great Job.
I really hate the aversion PP's players have to individualization/Customization of thier armyies.
There are Three identical magnus's all with the same paint skeme at my local store, they look like triplets with verying quality paint jobs.
Im lucky there is only one terminius at our store. Or I'd go insane.

^Agreed 100%. Very cool Aduro, I read the full post over at the PP Forum. It makes me think twice about them...now to fit them into my lists... Love the conversions. I agree with Kapton Morgunz about converting, I HAVE to do it to my minis....and funny enough I want to eventually put some 'clothing' on my Slayer who is already in his Captain Morgan pose . ____________________________ Side question: The tempered blade, is it really casted on there? I mean the effect to make it look like it's a samurai sword? I though people just painted it on.
