Ok y'all, as you know i am new to the game and well honesty i am confused by something really easy... Cover Saves...

Now i know what it means to be in cover ( i am in the military IRL, LOL)... but what am i am confused about is, does a model take a cover save even if the armor save is lower? i.e. cover save of say 4+ and soldier has a save of 3+ does it matter which one it takes, if someone could please explain this to me in laymens terms that would be great! Thanks alot...

maybe an example for me please.

You can choose to take a cover save or an rmour save or an invulnerable save.
Some weapons negate certain saves forcing you to choose others.

If you have, for example, an SM terminator in cover. He might get a 4+ (From cover) a 2+ (From terminator armour) and then a 5+ (From his terminator armour again)
The SM player can choose to take anyone of those 3 but only 1 out of the 3.

If the same terminator was being shot at by a weapon that ignored cover saves (Like a flamer) then he could only choose the 2+ armour save or the 5+ invulnerable save.

If the same terminator was being shot at with a gun that was ap2 or ap1 then he could only choose between the 4+ cover save and the 5+ invulnerable save.

If the terminator was being shot at by something that ignored all but 1 type of save (Like an ap2 flamer) then he could only choose his 5+ invulnerable save.

There are some weapons that ignore even invulnerable saves but not many.

Basically you can take a save even if it is lower but that might be a bit dumb.
You can choose.

Thanks. I tend to make more and more mistakes the larger a post gets. Sometimes i don't catch them all.
