2 rhinos on top of the 3 from the BF boxes.

20 tacticals on top of the boxes as well.

Thanks in advance for your help. Now I am busy assembling and will start painting once everything is assembled. (on a side note) what size magnets do i use for the arms on the soldiers?? thanks

It looks like you have the standard rhino rush/black tide going, a very solid strategy and fun list to run.

You may use anything I post, just remember to give me credit if used somewhere else.

Alrighty, where to start.

The first thing you should know, is about gluing them appropriately. You may know all this but its a vital step so I'll go over it.

The SM scouts, are used as Neophytes for Black Templars specifically. You will want to equip all of your scouts with bolt pistols and CC weps.
The SM Initiates (tactical marines), your going to need Bolt Pistols and Chain Swords. You might want to get your hands on some Black Templars upgrade kits. because again this is BT specific. For every 8 regular BP / CS initiates you want 2 with special weapons. Magnetize one with PowerFist / Power Weapon option, and the other with a Melta / Plasma Gun option. (However I just put melta's and powerfists).
You can keep a few small squads with Bolters, Missile launcher and Plasma Gun. Keep these squads as 5 man squads and no more than 2 if any.

So thats the first thing you should know, after that its just making a list with what you got.

Just so I know, is this your first Warhammer 40k army?

-edit below

Unfortunately I have to log out, its pretty late so I'll post back to you in the morning. If you dont have the BT Upgrade Kit, I highly suggest waiting for it. BT's don't do well as a shooting army. Again I'm going under the assumption you're a complete newbie to the game, so forgive me if you aren't.

LordofSteel,

yes i am completely new to the game. I have the BT upgrade chapter box as well, but i need to get some more so i can keep them all looking someone what closely alike. I have already started building one 10man squad, but LEFT the arms off for now, i need to figure out how to magnatize them so i can just do quick swithces on them.

So i broke down my list of what i have and it is..

60 tact (initiates)
20 scouts (neophytes)
20 assault
emp champ
chaplain

1 vindi
1 pred annihilator
1 razorback
4 rhinos

Alright awesome, well for magnetizing you need a Dremel Tool, aswell as rare earth magnets. If you don't have either, the Dremel Tool you can get at most hardware stores. The rare earth magnets, you either need to buy these online or find a hobby store that supplies them.
The size you are going to want for infantry limbs is 1/16" x 1/32".

Alright. So this is a list I've come up with that you could use, but generally if you want to learn the game start off by playing games of say 750 points (I can make you one after If you like). As for the Chaplain, I would use him as a Marshal. Its actually what I do, I don't have a Marshal but instead use my Chaplain as my Marshal just because they are a bit better for BT's. I'm going to include just about everything, so the point costs of the entire army will be an odd number. You should magnetize all of the Power Fist initiates with a Power Weapon option, aswell you should magnetize all of the Melta Gun initiates with Plasma Gun options. Once you know what things are worth in terms of points individually you can tweak your list to make it less points for smaller games if you wish. This list totals 2560 points, its generally a list to show you good structure of squads so that you can glue them properly and then play them with their best potential.

HQ:

-Emperors Champion. Vow: Accept any challenge no matter what the odds. 140 points
-Marshal. Power Weapon, Plasma Pistol, Artificer Armor, Iron Halo. 160 points

Troops:

-7x Initiate with Bolt Pistols and Chain Swords, 1x Initiate with Power Fist, 1x Initiate with Metla Gun, 2x Crusader Seals, Rhino. 223points (Put the Emperors Champion in this Rhino when you play)
-7x Initiate with Bolt Pistols and Chain Swords, 1x Initiate with Power Fist, 1x Initiate with Metla Gun, 2x Crusader Seals, Rhino. 223points (Put your Marshal in this Rhino when you play)
-8x Initiate with Bolt Pistol and Chain Swords, 1x Initiate with Power Fist, 1x Initiate with Melta Gun, 2x Crusader Seals, Rhino. 239 points
-4x Initiate with Bolters, 1x Initiate with Lascannon, 1x Initiate with Plasma Gun, Razorback with Twin-Linked Lascannon. 207points
-8x Initiate with Bolt Pistols and Chain Swords. 1x Initiate with Power Fist, 1x Initiate with Melta Gun, 2x Crusader Seals, 10x Neophytes. 289 points
-8x Initiate with Bolt Pistols and Chain Swords. 1x Initiate with Power Fist, 1x Initiate with Melta Gun, 2x Crusader Seals, 10x Neophytes. 289 points

Fast Attack:

7x Assault Initiate with Bolt Pistols and Chain Swords, 2x Assault Initiate with Plasma Pistol and Chain Sword, 1x Assault Initiate with Power Fist. 245 points
7x Assault Initiate with Bolt Pistols and Chain Swords, 2x Assault Initiate with Plasma Pistol and Chain Sword, 1x Assault Initiate with Power Fist. 245 points

Heavy Support:

1x Vindicator, Power of the Machine Spirit. 155 points
1x Predator Annihilator, Lascannon sponsons. 145 points

That leaves you with 6 initiates and a Rhino. If you want you can convert your last Rhino into a Razorback with a Twin-Linked Lascannon and make a second fire support squad.

in the beginning....

So as most of you know i am new to WH40K as a whole and I chose BT to be my army. So I am slowly building my army and this is what i have put together so far, now the ones up front are not painted (as you can plainly see =) Those are the ones i have put together myself, i have bought some off of ebay and such. But at this point the ones i have put together have no weapons or shoulder pads, due to waiting on my magnets to show up so i can put those on their arms, but wanted yall to see what i have going on, and as i make progress, i will keep updating.

As of now, I have 4 squads of 10 put together

8 Initiates
2 Neophytes

I also have 2 more boxes of SM battleforce showing up, so up to 6 squads.

I will have 4 rhinos when its all said and done, with 2 vindicators, and 2 LR's.
