My current Idea is to sit him with the greatswords to lead the core, but would he work better swinging along with the knights?

How large are your knightly orders?

Your battle wizard may only take a single dispel scroll under 8th edition restrictions.

My instinct is that your combat units and detachments are too small to do much fighting. They may serve ok as bunkers. Also a BSB is pretty important, but I'm not an Empire player so I'm not sure what to advise dropping...

Ah wasn't aware of the restriction.
I'll see how I can fit the BSB.
The Knightly orders are 8 strong for both.
Thinking I may just up and buy the General kit and make one a BSB and the other a captain/general on horseback.
The basis of the army is buying two battlions, and adding in units as I go, on the budget of $250
I am sorry, I should have made this clear when i started the thread, I apologize.
Also, just realized i will have two Greatswords following ym plan.
I intend to use state troops to deny path, and Greatswords to anvil with knights charging as hammers.
Wizard uses shadow to boost/hex all around, and general keeps the units in the fray.

State troops should be larger, 30 men min imo. With inner knights you'll probably only need 6 of them for a flanking unit. Another unit of normal knights 5-6 in strength can also help with flanks but maybe not needed at 1500. Greatswords are pretty good with Stubborn and with the points saved from the knight removal I think you may be able to get a unit of 20 although you may be cutting it close to 750 special since inner knights are special instead of core.

this is what i come up with at two battalions and a few random state troop boxes.
Around 250-270 $, notwithstanding my character conversions.

How am I looking now, then?
I think i am meeting all the required point-slot fills.

you need warrior priests. hates everyone and all those yummy prayers to beef up your characters and explode undead, demons and dryads
take inner circle off your knights, that way you can put another great cannon in somewhere i think
