I think this is the correct place, but if its not, please move it.
Anyway, I still have quite a small collection (3-4k being my higtest point army) and have been thinking about the idea of forgeworld for a while. although, when my dad asked in my FLGS they said it was quite hard to model with. i know oviously that it is resin so you have to wash it, but what do you do for acctually gluing? Do you use GW plastic glue? GW super glue? Some other kind of glue? or do you have to pin every part, and if so, what glue do you use to hold the paperclip in? and what advice would you give someone buying there first forgeworld model?
thanks very much : )

I try NOT to use GW glues of any kind (better are available elsewhere for less money).
You either use a superglue or an epoxy adhesive (araldite) as plastic glues will NOT work on it (it has a different chemical makeup to styrene plastics).
Parts that will have any kind of stresses put on them will benefit from pinning (but it's much easier to pin than metal is). The same glue is used for the pins as for general assembly.
First FW purchase: Something small and simple with a few parts. Infantry sized models (up to terminator sized). Vehicle kits often require reshaping of the warped resin and are for the more advanced modellers.

I've used GW superglue with resin (notably stuff from forgeworld) and it works perfectly fine (I actually recommend the stuff as it comes with a brush rather than those squeezy tubes you get from DIY stores)
It's not necessary to pin each part, but for larger heavier FW models, it is recommended so bits don't fall off as you move them about.
I would recommend getting an infantry squad to begin with or a single character, they tend to be better casted than the vehicles and are easier to work with.
Ideal recommendations are the Death Korps squads, Cadian upgrade packs, the Chaos characters (Lord Zhufor or the Plague Sorceror) and of course Lufgt Huron, who is incredibly easy to assemble. Harder infantry squads that are more challenging include the FW Elysians and Tallarn regiments.

No, don't. Get a dreadnought or similar small, not-too-expensive kit to get an idea of working with it. The titan and thunderhawk are extremely difficult kits.

winter, I get the feeling he many have been joking lol. And one thing you always have to remember, wear a mask when cutting, filling, drilling, or sanding resin. The particles are very fine and can easily get into your lungs and cause problems

Yeah, im thinking either the nurgle dread or the preachers of nurgle.... both cheap by forge world standards......
and for my first kit ill proobobly just use GW superglue, saves me buying some oother glue to find i dont acctually like modeling with resin and all the glue being wasted.
