A couple years ago I bought a GW mega paint set for a new Eldar army. Well this week I have finally been able to get back into modeling and painting, but my paints are drying out. Most of them are still wet inside the bottle but not a smooth flowing paint but more a gummy blob like they are starting to dry out. Are there any ways to easily save these as most of them have never been opened and I'd hate to have to buy all new ones if I can use these. I was thinking of adding a little water and just shaking them really good to try and mix them up. Any help will greatly be appreciated. Thanks

mixing in water is probably your best bet, however once the drying process starts there's little you can do to reverse it.

If you want to get a bit more flow out of the dryer paints, get some Matte Medium. It goes perfectly with acrylic and will allow your paint to flow much more consistently without giving you brush strokes.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

Matte medium and distilled water are the best. You can also get some airbrush thinner. Fortunately GW seems to have finally gotten decent bottles. I have really old poly scale, and GW paint (like 20 years old) that's still great, but anything in the previous 2 gens of bottles is toast after a year or so. They just never sealed right.

When they get dry dry, there's no going back, but thickening in the pot is perfectly salvageable. I was given a pot of Skull White that had turned to gel - still squishy, but with zero flow (you could turn it upside down and shake with no change in the shape of the glob) - and I revived it with plain old water.

Add a bit and stir with a pin or something to start breaking up the mass. Repeat until it gets a bit of flow, after which you can just add and shake until you get the consistency you want. I didn't go too far, since I thin on the palette, anyway.

Thanks for the help guys, the paints are like a thick jelly so I think some water and stirring will hopefully take care of it. Again thanks for the help.

I recently had the same problem, I say 'had' as I managed to rescue all but 2 of my 60+ GW paints that vary in age by mixing in a suspension fluid mix I bought for use with my Tattoo Inks, The Ingredients are Distilled Water, Alcohol and Witch Hazel (in what ratio I'm not sure I'm afraid!). This was over 3 weeks ago and (touch wood) I haven't had a problem, doing this meant I didn't get the GW Mega Paint Set off the Missus for Crimbo but the Tool Set instead ......better value for money IMO.
