I'm planning on painting some flames of war figures soon and was wondering what the best way to spray primer these minis are. My plan is to use a little putty to stick each figure to a small piece of wood for spraying all areas. I was wondering what methods you guys use to prime these figures. Thanks.

I personally use cheap black spraypaint from Lowes. It's $2 a can. I try to keep the mini 12" away from the can, and I start and end the spray off the mini.

I get a can of the appropriate color spray primer. The stuff that is made in conjunction with Army Painter is great.

I use the same Krylon primer I use for my plastic WH minis and it's never let me down. Keep 12 inches away.
I paste the putty on the mini base, dab a little all purpose glue to the bottom of the mini, and stamp it in. I then prime the whole mini. This might save you the extra step of using the wood etc.
After that I airbrush a dark dark brown basecoat. then paint the mini.
