How can i maintain the quality of my brushes, they have started to fray into two seperate points. I have to continually rinse them and twist them to get a few minutes of painting with them. I originally used GW brushes then switched to a higher end brush. When i wash the brush i dont just smash the gak out of it before someone asks lol.

Every now and then, I run the brushes under hot water, use a little bit of dishwashing soap, and roll the bristles back and forth to loosen any extra paint. Works pretty well for me.

I've had the same brushes for several years, mostly in very good condition. Most importantly imo, you must never dip the entire brush into your paint, "just the tip". ...and use a separate brush for 'dry' brushing. Dry brushing is really tough on brushes. For regular use cleaning, I just swish the brush around in my water cup, then gently wipe it off on a paper towel, repeat and it's good. I would recommend not using hot water, because it will cause the glue that holds your bristles to deteriorate.

For dry brushes and for all of your brushes every now and then use some Master's Brush Cleaner. Check out these Youtube videos:

What do you consider a high end brush?

I recommend Windsor Newton Series 7 personally, and pick yourself up a cake of Masters Brush cleaner.
