I've had the same brushes for several years, mostly in very good condition. Most importantly
imo, you must never dip the entire brush into your paint, "just the tip".

...and use a separate brush for 'dry' brushing. Dry brushing is really tough on brushes. For regular use cleaning, I just swish the brush around in my water cup, then gently wipe it off on a paper towel, repeat and it's good. I would recommend not using
hot water, because it will cause the glue that holds your bristles to deteriorate.
For dry brushes and for all of your brushes every now and then use some Master's Brush Cleaner. Check out these Youtube videos:
