I'd like some feedback on what the dakka community thinks of my Deathguard list. I've finished painting my models and am ready to turn them loose on the table. This is a 2000 point list. I'd also like ideas on how to scale it up to 2500.

2xDP MoN, warptime, wings

3 Chaos Dreads w/extra CC arm, heavy flamer, extra armor

3x7 Plague Marines, 2 melta, champ w/fist, icon Rhino w/combimelta

10 Summoned lesser demons (not a huge fan of summoned demons, but I had extra points to fill and already have demon models painted)

3 Vindicators

The plan is to rush the rhinos forward, pop smoke and deploy the PMs into cover, preferably on an objective. Run the dreads up behind the rhinos and move the vindis up and fire. DPs will try to move into/hide behind cover first turn and get off an assault on turn two.

Edit: I'm not sold on using the dreads, and am proxying regular SM dreads for now. If they work out I'd like to get the really nice FW Nurgle dreads.

Second Edit: Added wings to the two DPs. They were originally on my list but I missed them when typing it in.

Don't play Deathguard myself, so not too much advice coming from me. I will however advise against the Dreads. The last thing any army needs is three of its own walkers firing up its arse.

Oblits seem to be a better choice for filling a mobile heavy support role.

Looks pretty standard and solid.

Really, if anything I would consider possibly dropping one Vindicator for some Obliterators just to help with the Long Range games.

Stepping up to 2500, I would fill out with more Plagues, going for Plasmas this time and Lesser Daemons with a good Icon Network.

3 Dreads are scary, maybe if you dropped the dreads and a Vindicator, you could get a Defiler to fill in their spot, and still have some points to spread around in filling out Plague Marine squads.

personally i would:

- drop the lesser demons, buy wings for your demon princes
- get missile launchers on your dreads. CC/ML is a decent combo for chaos dreds, and if your woried about flipping out and firing into your own guys, shoot a frag misile into your deathguard, which will do very very little while adding long range STR 8 punch to the army, since the rest of the list is pretty short ranged.

There ain't nearly enough Salvage in this thread!

My dreads don't pack any guns other than the heavy flamer and a twin-linked bolter. I'm not to worried about them going into a fire frenzy.

@studderingdave: I had wings on my princes already, I just failed to type it into this post. I have edited my original post to include the wings.

I know I am really short on long range anti-tank. I really have none, as the vindis are only 24 inches. I could replace the three vindis and one one dread with 3x2 oblits and 3 more summoned demons. I need to get some oblits first though. Traded mine away awhile ago when I traded my Emperor's Children army.
