Ok so heres the deal..
both the thousand sons and children are my favorite armies fluff wise. If I was to build an army it would be purely because of my love for the fluffy side of it, so i'm not one bit interested anything to do with the other armies.
Also I just love the fact that I hardly hear of anyone collecting these 2 armies, i'm sick of the same old khorne and nurgle..
So in dakkas opinion, which would be the toughest/coolest? noise marines with sonic weapons, or TS's with ap3 and 4+ invul.

Noise Marines and Slaanesh themed units are generally better than Thousand Sons. Noise Marines pump out a stupid amount of bolter fire, and Slaanesh's token psychic power, Lash of Submission, is way too useful and hated by everyone.

While Thousand Sons are really good at killing Marines, they're slow and lack any anti armor. You could always take a predator, Defiler, Havocs or whatever, but their base infantry have a hard time with tanks. Noise Marines generally do too, since the Blastmaster is only strength 8.

Thematically, they're both very cool armies. It's just a matter of if you'd rather paint pink or blue.

A Blastmaster or Doomsiren can do stupidly high damage when paired with a Lash move. Go with Slaanesh.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

Noise Marines are very solid units, and the Doom Siren in particular hammers MEQ's into the ground, while they get to unload a truckload of fire at hordes as well. Thousand Sons are pretty good vs MEQ's (and harder to kill), the only issue being that against stuff without power armour, they're essentially shooting like normal marines.

Both are good, just take your pick i guess.
