Fellow Adeptus Astartes! My Chapter has been dealt a terrible blow by the slavering Tyranids of the Leviation Tendril on the Ice Planet of Thrass. Survivors of the engagement report that a group of 30 Hormaguants led the assault in a straight line, granting the entire horde behind a 4+ cover save! My Brothers layed down withering fire, with Bolters, Heavy Bolters, Storm Bolters, Dragonfire Bolts, and Assault Cannons, but it proved futile, as targeting either the Hormaguants or the more powerful aliens behind were saved by the cover of their fellows. The Flamers deployed had not even one chance to fire, as the distance was closed too quickly. The Land Raider Omnisiah's Fury could do nothing but endure the ranged blows from cowardly Hive Guards and Warriors from beyond the line of battle. That Land Raider and four Assault Marines bring me this report; the only survivors. Please, bring forth information regarding this strategy immediately, so our Brother's blood may be avenged tenfold by spilling the foul ichor that seeps through those foul alien veins! The citizens of this planet deserve more than the order of Exterminatis, and my Brothers deserve more than to leave their comrades dead and retribution denied.

Shooting through the screen is what the nid player wants you to do. All you have to do to stop this strategy is a small unit of bikes, then charge in such a way as to tie up the squad.

Other alternatives:
Thunderfire cannon
Whirlwind
Tankshock them out of cover..shoot them with bolters.
Kill the synapse, make them charge after landspeeders or something else they can't hurt. Or just pin them after their synapse is gone.

Or just shoot the screen itself. Heavy bolters and tac squad can make pretty short work of 30 gaunts. Short of using venomthropes, the nid player will have a difficult time claiming a cover save w/ 30 gaunts strung out along the front lines. I'd only count on the screen to buy the nid player a turn at most.

Hormagaunts only need to survive 1 turn to be in charge range thought. But I belive Thaylen is correct, just blast the screen.

Very well, I shall institute these new target priorities immediately, and call forth additional weapons from the armory. You have saved lives with this information.

Send a fast assault unit to attack one flank of the screen, this will pull it to one side, as well as slow down the foul alien advance, as they will be forced to go around (as the screen will now be locked in CC).
