hi everyone and thanks in advance for the support
this is my first post but this board has answered many of my questions before and provided me with lots of helpful hints on painting and modelling!
sorry i cant provide any link, but i was reading on this board but the discussion seemed to date a bit so i wanna make sure this is accurate
(btw this is ll about 5th ed which i think is obvious by now)
i play chaos space marines so my troop choice states my marines have bolters, bolt pistol, ccw, frags and kraks. first i tought champion had the pistol and ccw and marines had bolter but now i think that a marine can shoot a bolter in the shooting phase, and then take out his bolt pistol and ccw, assault and get +1 attack for having 2 ccw (and +1 for assaulting of course)
is this right?
thanks!

It would be right, except that Bolters are Rapid Fire weapons, and if anyone in the unit fires a Rapid Fire weapon, the whole unit is prevented from assaulting that turn.
Models with Relentless (like Obliterators, and bikers) can still assault if they fire a Rapid Fire weapon, though.

In CC, you can use the Pistol and CCW, no matter what you most recently fired. That means you'll always get +1 attack bonus for 2 CCW.
In shooting, you are free to choose between the Bolter and the Pistol. The Bolter gets more range (if stationary) and can fire more shots than the pistol. But, remember, you cannot launch an assault if you shoot a rapid fire weapon. So, if you want to launch an assault that turn, you need to shoot your pistol and not your bolter. quick reply thanks!
so yeah i forgot about rapid fire but that means it could work with assault weapons?
the reason i ask is before you had to choose between bolt pistol/ccw OR bolter. now marines are assumed to have both?
that would actually be awesome because besides the few extra attacks that would give us, it means i can model chaos marines with bolters and others with bolt pistol and ccw in the same squad and not need to keep track because they would have both anyways...
anyways i hope i am being clear cause english is not my first language and this is kind of confusing =)
thanks again for the support

Absolutely. I do that all the time.
For example, with a squad of 5 Chosen armed with three meltaguns and two flamers, since they're assault weapons I can shoot them in the Shooting phase, then assault and fight using their Bolt Pistols & Close Combat Weapons in the assault phase.
The improved array of weapons each model is equipped with is definitely a neat little advantage in the current Chaos Space Marines codex compared to the old one.

In the shooting phase everyone chooses which weapon to fire (bolter, special weapon, pistol).
Providing no-one fired a rapid-fire weapon then you can assault.
When assaulting you'll get +1 for two weapons as you have a pistol and a CCW.

fixed for completeness, not that many CSM units gave heavies in them anymore, but the option exists therefore so too should the caveat.
