Hey guys,

I am starting a Kan Wall and have no idea what clan to paint them up as. I don't know a lot about Ork fluff, but I want to know what clan would most likely field a wall of Kans and Dreads? Also, what clan do you guys see used rarely?

There's not a partcular large klan that specializes in dread-style mechs. Maybe check out some of the fluff behind the Dread mobz. Otherwise I'd paint them up Goff style, as it looks badass.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I paint mine freebooter style, every mob of 30 is painted specific colours so I can tell were one mob ends and another begins at a glance.

If you really want to stick to a pre made klan, goffs or bad moons would work with the fluff.

I say bad moons simply because I have never seen a bad moon painted army, it could lend you some originality.

Go Deff Skullz - Kanz are built out of looted parts so painted the up for the biggest looters in the universe.

Eastern Frontier Exploratores
224th Astra Legion (main army)
628th Praetorian Guard Cohort (wife's army)
827th Auxilia Cohort (ad mech fun)
825th Foderati Cohort (in the beginning army)
1212th Foederati Cohort - Jokaero (cause I like apes with guns)

Really any of the clans would work. Except maybe Snakebites, although you could probably still make it work.

I like Deathskulls personally. A wall of blue steel is awesome indeed.

I personally love deathskulls, and since kans arn't specific to any army, you could do anything with them. When it comes to snakebites, I love doing "counts-as" units, like boar/squig riders for bikers.

Yeah, kans/dreads don't really lend themselves to a particular clan, like Goff sluggas, Evil Sunz bikers, or Blood Axe kommandos might. As mentioned, Snakebites are the only klan that would really require work to justify. If you want one klan for the whole army, base it on the rest of your force or personal aesthetics whether you use a codex klan or a homebrew one.

Personally, I'd definitely opt for Death Skulls if I converted the walkers from recognizable parts, like looted Imperial dreads, but beyond that, anything's fair game. Death Skulls loot scrap, Evil Suns have plenty of meks, Bad Moons have the teef to buy them, Goffs love anything smashy and stompy...

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm leaning to Deathskulls or Bad Moonz right now. I'm having a hard time deciding; I love how the Deathskulls look, but a wall of yellow kans would look pretty good too.

I have my 9 Kans all base painted in Yellow! My home made Deff Dread is also base painted. I found far too many issues trying to hand paint Yellow without it looking like crap so my solution was to make a visit to Home Depot and bought the only Yellow they had that was close to Bad Moonz = Gloss Yellow

I am not worried about the gloss as I will be adding detail + Wash to the can and finish with a Matte finish. I can say right now that the Home Depot gloss yellow really snaps and I know they will look good when I am finished.

I have around 17 Boys and Nobz painted in the Deathskullz colors, but I will mix in Badmoonz also. I pick anything that cost a lot will be Bad Moon while anything looted or looks borrowed will be Deathskullz.

I was actually thinking, if you wanted to go snakebites you could probably find something from the ogre line of fantasy to use as counts as, could look cool too with some good conversion work.
