Not really trying to debate quality over quantity here, but as I (New player whose never actually played a game yet) go through possible list after list, I get the temptation to try to incorporate Nobs into the game plan. However, I then get frustrated because to do so I must either sacrifice an entire core squad, or something from heavy support (which are usually killa kans and kannons). Thus my dilemma revealed. So this is what I've concluded, and need some advice on how I should change my thinking or not.

Nobz have the advantage of twice (2) the wounds on boyz. This alone I would say makes 1 Nob worth 2 boyz. They also have 1 extra attack (3), so this makes them at least half a point more valuable. But Nobz are capable of better weapons, and painboy/mek upgrades. However costly, we'll give this advantage another half point.

This means that for each Nob, he'll be worth at least 2 boyz.

While 10 Nobz (albeit with a huge point advantage) could easily tear threw 20 Boyz, their real downfall is cost, and AV. The cost more than 3 times per boy, and with the same AV.

There's really no way to compare a single Nob to that of a Boy. Two Boyz will always have more attacks on the charge than the Nob, thus more potential (and great potential at that) to kill more than a single Nob could. Expensive units are never meant to be used in hordes, you kind of have to kit them out to make them useful.

Biker Nobz are one of the better ones, as due to wound allocation it's incredibly hard to put one down without utilizing Instant Death or a horrendous amount of wounds. Even then, when they turbo boost, they gain a 3+ cover save, taking their lowered armor save completely out of the equation.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.
