My vote was for the Lord of the Night and Riders of the Dead.

Maybe old news, can't remember, but spotted on Amazon just now that "Once A Killer" previewed back in April is slated to arrive late October - early November.

IIRC most of these stories were digital only at first?

Does anyone know if the new Word Bearers omnibus is going to be released separately from the special edition boxset or not? Also, is it going to be turned into an audiobook?

Ok, I take it back. That Word Bearer Trilogy is not worth the money. $160 USD and I'm not sure it even comes with the short stories like the omnibus does

The Warhammer Crime series has showcased some great new talent and IMO has been consistently more entertaining than many of the "regular" books.

I am looking forward to this one, as it appears to be a lot of eshort / online only stuff in there that I haven't read yet. And oh yes, so far the Crime series has been leaps and bounds better, maybe because the scope is smaller and they're sticking to a single setting with its own culture and whatnot. I just wish they'd reign in the excessive swearing some of the authors put in now they are allowed to use grown up words. A well-placed swear can serve as an excellent exclamation point, but the way some authors go about it, less is more IMHO. Makes me wonder how long until Dan Abnett does a crime novel, his usual 2000AD fare is filled with swearing like no tomorrow. But damn, after reading all of Brink again, a police procedure by Dan would be ace.

That said, I want another full crime novel by Chris Wraight, Bloodlines did a lot of excellent world building and some of the loose ends he gave us there are just screaming for more exploration.

Chris Wraight gets me interested. Hopefully the plot won't hinge on the same 'Black Templars must uphold an oath counterproductive to their goals' device that BOTH previous books were bogged down by.

I stopped reading after the first book, not even Chris, a BL writer I really like, could get me back into that mess.

Yeah also a Wraight fan, but previous books look like garbage, don't suppose one can just drop into book 6 and hope for much

How much do the books build off each other? I want to read The Gate of Bones for the WB/IW dynamic and I think it’s the second book in the series, so worst case scenario, I can slog through the previous novel

The first book sets stuff up, but practically nothing carries across to Gate of Bones, which is at another isolated location. Annoying stuff in GoB though is the retconning to the Plague of Unbelief.

My first thought as well. Guess he changed his mind after turning down Starfleet

As of this morning, a day after going up for pre-order, the limited edition of the Creed novel has not sold out on the GW web store. Is this a first?

Looks like people do not care about Ursarkar's replacement. Fortunately Trazyn kept the original.

But for some reason Trazyn took his coat off first...

Presumably he was de-coated on Cadia since Fem-Creed managed to get hold of it.

I just imagine a situation were Creed has just survived the fight against Abaddon (RIP Kell) and amidst the planet breaking apart has a little sit down to get his breath back and partially undresses.
Trazyn appears and traps him in a pokeball.
Then some random guardsman wanders by (probably the same one who collected up Bastonne's sword), and grabs the coat because it's a unique item with a good resale value or something...

We already knew how she got the coat...it and the pistols associated with Ursukar appeared in her quarters.

I'd assume it still is up because it isn't a LE with goodies, just a variant cover. Same thing happened with "Shadow of the Eighth".

Codex: Astra Militarum wrote:Over her broad shoulders, the new Lord Castellan wears what some assume to be a recreation of her father's greatcoat, for surely it perished with him. Ursula, however, knows it to be no fake. Appearing in her sealed chambers months after the loss, dried blood and the smell of Cadia's final hours saturating the heavy fabric. It fired an obsessive hope in her that somehow, somewhere, her father yet lived.

Fairly certain that the "mantle" talked about in the previews for this novel is that of Lord Castellan, not the coat.

Yeah. Thanks. I think everyone is aware of that.

You might be overthinking me pointing out that Trazyn seemingly took off Creed's coat is a bit odd and leads to some amusing possibilities for how it got back. (Obviously the reason Fem-Creed has it because it stirs those memberberries ('Remember Creed's coat?! You liked that!'))

I'm convinced this will all lead up to one of the greatest meta-jokes of all time, when, in rememberance of old Ursakar's ability to surprise-deploy even Titans and superheavies, Trazyn will one day one-up him and deploy a surprise Ursakar from whatever trans-dimensional reserves zone he has him locked up in

Just went to save Creed: Ashes of Cadia to my Kindle wish list, and I notice that the paperback version is a pound cheaper. Consider my flabber well and truly gasted.

"Bloody typical, they've gone back to metric without telling us."

"As the days go by, we face the increasing inevitability that we are alone in a godless, uninhabited, hostile and meaningless universe. Still, you've got to laugh haven't you?"

"We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty!"

"Mind the oranges Marlon!"

Dead trees being cheaper than digital? What a joke of company they are.

Weighing up whether or not to get the Blackstone Fortress Omnibus, as we do enjoy the game. Thoughts anyone?

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.
