Subject: Eldar jetbike bases... does it matter if I use the small flying base?

Well I have called games workshop and the guy said I could use the small base but I needed to check with my shop I play at. When I called the battle bunker in memphis they said I should have received the small bases and to use them . Then i replied even though I received the large flying base with them? Im so confused...
My main concern is are they more effective in a large group with smaller bases to keep them closer together? I see them being more useful that way moving and assaulting...
Can somebody clear this up for me?

Using smaller bases means that they're somewhat more susceptable to blast templates, but less so for their "footpoint", which could affect other things like other unit's movement and cover saves. However, you should find out exactly what bases came with the Jetbikes usually. By the rules you have to use the "standard" base for them, with larger bases being semi-acceptable, while smaller bases being a huge nono.

By the rules, he's obliged to use the bases they came with, period.

I was under the impression that they sent him the wrong bases. If the bases are correct and you just want to use smaller ones, it's a nono. If they're intended to come with smaller bases, but you recieved larger ones by accident, then you can probably ring up GW and get the smaller bases. Sorry about that.
