Hi everyone, Scorax001 here,
I was just interested in everyone opinion on this matter. As we know, [/spoiler] Grey knights are coming out, so is it time we had a new chaos space marine codex ? More importantly, if so, what would be in it ? Please post comments and what you think will be in it. I imagine they'll get rid of daemons (as they have their own codex now) and make chaos-specific vehicles, rather than just having a spiky space marine vehicle. Again, everyone's opinion is welcome.

Chaos WILL not be out in 2010. Necrons, Tau, SoB and Eldar are all older i would expect all of them to be out before. Only two of them will (probably) come out this year.

And chaos specific vehicles, do you mean models? Because i doubt they will invent many vehicles, a flyer or two could be added.

For starters i think you mean 2011.
And no, I dont think Chaos is a high priority as it stands now, simply because there are other codices who need it more.

Yeah as much as we need a new codex im ok to wait a little longer, at least till after necrons and tau

I don't expect Chaos to be redone any time this year - I'd expect the three remaining 3rd edition codices to take us through to the start of 2012. But when it is, I hope they'll correct the mistakes of splitting it into two books and stripping out all the customisation options.

Necrons, SoB, Black Templars, and Tau are all on the waiting list. Until they get redone GW wont even consider the Chaos codex, and there are other codexes that are in MUCH more need of an update (cougheldarcough).

It actually depends on a lot. We know Necrons are next (or at least we have a lot of rumors saying so) and we know that Sisters are in development (or at least...). We've also seen a lot of Tau rumors, so it seems fairly certain that all three armies will show up in the next two years.

We haven't seen anything at all about Black Templars, and there's been a lot of speculation that GW will just fold them back into the next Codex Space Marines. In fact, it makes a lot of sense for GW to use the Templars as 6th editions "box army" (much like they did in 3rd edition), considering that Dark Millennium and 6th edition will almost certainly be out within a year of each other.

In contrast, while we've heard almost nothing new about Chaos Marines, it makes a lot of sense for GW to update their codex early in 6th edition, especially if Chaos Marines are included in the 6th edition box opposite space marines (as some have speculated). If that's the case than Chaos Marines will almost certainly be one of the first two books updated in 6th edition.

So yeah, not anytime soon. But there's at least a fair chance that you'll see a new book before the Black Templars do.
