I've been wanting to do something like this forever but I'm too slow to finish anything to even get to more advanced stuff. However, I came across a really awesome gallery by a guy named Jon Law in which he photographed a Tyranid vs Space Marines battle using localized lighting and smoke effects. I've got an interview with him up on Tabletop Geeks now where he goes into some details about how he achieved these effects.

Looks GREAT for pictures. Really good.
but actually playing a game like that would be... inconvenient at best. lol

Nice blurb, and I enjoyed the pictures.

S'all fun and games until some no life troll master debates all over your space manz & ruins it for you

My dad played a "midnight madness" Battle of Britain game at Historicon a long time ago. The game was played in pitch darkness using only strobe lights for lighting, to simulate flak exploding.

This kinda thing would be cool, since it doesn't seem quite that intrusive.
