I was Reading through the errata for vampire counts and noticed the part which says to ignore everything on pg 88 except the 2nd paragraph of choosing characters. However is the 2nd paragraph the part which talks about a vampire general being compulsory or is the 2nd paragraph the one which talks about magic item allowances as it isn't entirely clear. If it was the first of mysuggestions then I wouldn't be able to take a wght kng general but if the 2nd paragraph is the other suggestions then I can take a Wight king leader. This may seem like a silly and noobish question but I just want it clearing up for definet. Thank you and please post.

I don't have the VC book, unfortunately. I have to run down to my FLGS this weekend though, so if you don't know by tomorrow I'll chime in with a real honest-to-goodness opinion.

I don't think I understand the question - why couldn't a Wight King be a general?

Well it is just that you are saposed to ignore the entire of pg88 except the 2nd paragraph of choosing characters. However in the book it isn't clear which paragraph is which as there is a table between two sets of text. If those two pieces of text are one paragraph then I can take a wight king general but if they aren't then I still have to use the rule which makes me take a vampire general as it is the 2nd paragraph.

I am pretty sure that the 2nd paragraph is the one that begins "A vampire counts army must always include at least one vampire character." It is clearly not part of the paragraph above which begins "Characters are divided into two categories..." The table that separates the two indicates you have a new paragraph.

Sadly, this means that a Wight King cannot act as the armies general.

2,500 - Discipline. Duty. Unyielding Will.
2,000 - He alone has the Emperor's soul in his blood.
2,500 - Order. Unity. Obedience.

Which makes a lot of sense.

The Vamp is the one who RAISED THE ARMY and whose will keeps the army together.

Yeah, I checked it today. You still have to have a vampire of some type as your general.

There was a similar scenario with the TK FAQ, but the end result was the same: you don't have to take the lord flavor of vampire, but there still needs to be a vampire at the helm.

Nos nailed it. Without the vampire's willpower, Team Edward isn't going anyplace.

I wasn't planning on taking one but there are people all over the place using wight king generals and I just thought it was weird.

Then it looks like you need to show them how illegal doing that is.

Some of that may be people not noticing the updated FAQs. For a while in 8th, all of that page was thrown out. I believe GW chucked it because it was talking about 7th style army building and didn't notice that they would suddenly allow non vamps to be the general in a VC army.

It's since been corrected, but perhaps players haven't noticed the more recent update.

“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”
