If you want to run 3 Carnifex, is is better to run a brood of three so you only use 1 slot, but have to keep them the same, OR run 3 broods of 1 so, while you use all your slots, you can run 3 different ones???

If you wanna deepstrike a carnifex on their side, you take it alone and give it a purpose like shooting side/rear armor of something, then watch it die to massive lascannon fire. Otherwise you watch 600+points slowly walk across the battlefield and eat massive lascannon fire.

Yeah, I wish they were better too. I might still be playing Tyranids. Many people suggest sticking a Tyranid Prime with them, and leave the Prime in Cover so as to get 4+ cover on your MC.

I would DS one or two with Drop Pods, barring that. Separate FOC. Unless you need the slots for something.

EDIT: Forgot how to spell.

I'd take 2 broods. One of one and one of two. I like to fill that last slot with a trygon prime.

If you have the Heavy Support spaces available, it's always good to split up your Carnifexen into their smallest possible units so that your opponent wastes firepower with overkill.

In addition it allows your Carnifexen to target independently. Being able to engage two or even three targets rather than only one is a good thing.

However, if you have two Tervigons, then that's one batch of Feel No Pain, and another batch of Run and then Shoot. A single Venomthrope within 6" and the whole unit has Cv5+.

However it works, your Carnifex should always be capable of shooting. I like the Heavy Venom Cannon the best, as it lets the Carnifexen soften up their prey before charging, giving them a 36" area of effect. It's a S9 hit thing.

I like have two single-man teams of Broadsides - you have two heavy units that can dish out plenty of pain all around the board, instead of two units focusing on one group. Same thing with your carni's I'd think...but, I've never played 'nids before

And if you're drinkin' well, you know that you're my friend and I say "I think I'll have myself a beer"

Probably best to run fexstar if you are going to be footslogging Carnifex.

(fexstar is when you attach a tyranid prime to a carnifex. If you use 2 fexes in 1 unit, attach 2 primes with different basic weapons to maximize wound allocation)

This makes for a similar effect to tyrant with guard. More expensive and less appealing than a tyrant, but that is more because of the comparison in points/ how effective the carnifex is in comparison to the Hive Tyrant

I like the fexstar unit. The primes can leave the unit later if they want to. Tyrants can't leave guard behind.

I like the fex still. I just hate how overpriced they are. Drop 30-40 points off its cost and it'd be correct.
