hey.

I played deamonhunters before when the were first released in 2002 and fell in love back then. they were a hard arm to play (for me at my FLGS atleast) because of their low model count and high cost. but i liked that.

Now tho when the new GK codex is coming out and i started taking up this hobby agein a few months ago it seems like there will be Alot of people starting a GK army and with all the flak the codex has been getting so far.
I just seems that it will be alot of people playing GK but noone that wants to play ageinst them.

Im not making this thread to discuss how overpowered or underpowered so on and so forth.

Just wondering is everyone now making a GK list and is anyone gonna want to play ageinst them?
should i opt to start a new army of something else instead just to have someone to play with?

You don't have to start a new army or project because the GK's are becoming more popular, I bet not many people played DE before the new Codex release and look at them now I personally am one of those hobbyists who when a new army book or codex is released alongside minies I can't help but fanatise about getting them and nagging my parents to buy me some even though In never get around to collecting the figures or the army. But, there is something about the new GK's that makes me loooove them more than anything so I'm on board for collecting them, got my money ready and all

The Rout, Vlka Fenryka, Warrior Kings of Fenris.... the Space Wolves. Horus Heresy. Sixth Great Company. 1500pts. In progress.

What? why would someone not want to play against them? That seems weird, there is a lot of people calling cheese or overpoweredness (yes a new word!) but there is always cries of that. We shall have to see how they are on the table before we can call how they are.

In the end though if you play in a group or meta that doesn't appreciate a competitive attitude you can always write more "fluffy" lists, or "un-optimized" lists that no one should have a problem with.

yeah that could work good. Me and my closest gaming friends are really not that lest just say competetive. Our greatest nemesis is our necron player

Just there just seems to be so much outrageing over it.
can understand how the units looks to people who are competetive and good. but for my casual group it seems like it is always down to the dice . last match i missed 13 out of 14 PF attacks -.-

See, I have a similar story. Daemonhunters came out when I first starting playing Warhammer 40k, but I could not afford to get into it enough with all those expensive metal mini's (and the fact that I was still in high school). Fast forward to now, I finally can collect the GK army I always wanted, in plastic and with a competitive codex. I am very excited.

Your concern seems completely unfounded and naive: why would people refuse to play against your GK army? Why could you not just play against other GK players? When has this EVER been an issue before? And seriously, considering their relative strength is not disproportionately high, why would you even think that many players will be switching to them?

Only really immature people will refuse to play you when push comes to shove. I guarantee you that they will be like Blood Angels or Dark Eldar in terms of being overhyped before the codex is officially released. Once people begin playing GK on a regular basis they will see the strengths and weakness. I don't care if you are a Power Armored Grey Knight, a Blood Angel Assault Marines, or a Kabalite Warrior. A Plasma Cannon is a Plasma Cannon is a Plasma Cannon. They may have some cute new toys, but it's nothing to completely disable every army in the game (Sorry Daemons) The same universal rule applies to all armies: Shoot/Assault it enough and it will die. Sure, they may have some cute tricks that people are raging about now, but in the end they're just another Marine army (in my eyes) at the end of the day. I play Chaos. Am I scared for my Daemon things? Yes. Are my Thousand Sons scared? No. Are my vehicles scared? No.

The point is, if you have good guys at your FLGS you should have no problem finding games. Personally, I'd love to play against the new GK as soon as possible. It's too bad my upcoming tourney is the week before the codex release...

I know some people at my FLGS are already hating on the codex and are freaking out about it. Shame that the Inquisition is my favourite faction in 40k and always has been since the very beginning. Shame that I'll still play the codex anyway. They antagonize me enough as it is, so I don't mind. Especially since the army really isn't that bad to begin with.

Somewhere in the dark...

I have to admit, Im not best pleased about all the new GK players - I kind of liked being the martyr and playing an army nobody played because it wasn't competitive enough but that's by the by really.

I bet a lot of people will get a GK army based on all the shiniest stuff in the new codex - Paladins, Dreadknight etc and then realise that, actually, they won't be able to make a very competitive army with all of those really expensive new toys and drop them and move on to the next new army.

Then all the martyrs can buy the used shinies for cheap?

It's nothing new OP. When you're a special, unique snowflake and then suddenly aren't there is a sense of loss.

Well, If anything GK are still tier 2. I just cant see them standing up to an Imperial Guard tank column.

You will still be the same old martyr you always were

Grey Knights - just making martyrs.

Hey, that could work for a recruiting slogan.

I honestly won't play with my 'nids against them if what I've read from jy2's impressions are true, particularly that all nemesis force weapons are truly force weapons now. I think it will be time to pull out my SW army for those games. Which is sad because I really prefer playing my 'nids, but I think the only thing that will be worse than playing 'nids against them would be playing daemons.
