Sick of seeing my 250pt squads of Destroyers taken out by half a dozen marine scouts I came up with this rather model heavy list. I reckon this is probably the maximum 'wounds on table' for the Crons. I'm going to try it tomorrow...

I think you would be best off, if trying this list, is having two Res Orb Lords.
Veil will be of no use really, just one squad of 10 teleporting? Have fun trying this out, probably won't be overly successful, but could work.

The idea of the VoD was for late objective grabs or to pull survivors out of CC (not that that happens often in 5th).
I could see the extra Res Lord being good against pieplate armie like IG.

It be a better list with 3 squads of Immortals, but that can cost a pretty penny right now to build.

I've got thirty of them (and an empty bank account) but I'd have to drop a lot of stuff to fit them in. I've heard a single squad works well Veiling around causing trouble for isolated support units.

They do. But I'm doubtful any Necron build is really viable at this point. However, its worth a try, I've wanted to run a Necron Horde myself(I have over 60 warriors). With your list, I would favor 1 squad of Immortals over 3 squads of Flayed Ones.

I'm curious why Necron players dont use the 20 pt item that gives them nightfight vs the enemy. It seems like it would be worth it to deny the enemy 80% of his turn 1 or 2 shooting.

It only protects a single unit for a single turn. The enemy is free to shoot at everything other than the lord's unit unimpeded.

Oh. I thought it was board wide. Lame.

And it uses up 20 points out of the max 100 you can spend on better wargear.
