Lesser Daemon of Chaos

I know, I know, overused phrase. But it's the truth. Last week my beloved Warhammer 40k collection became one with the Warp. I recovered approximately 36 small dice, some scorched, others melted. Those I only got because I took a screwdriver and hammer to a 1" thick slab of plastic that used to be my army and cases.

However, on the plus side, I am expecting the insurance to cover the entire collection. At retail. With standard quality commission painting. Which means I should have plenty of money (and then some) to start a few new armies.

Only problem is... I don't know what I want anymore. I had a very versatile Chaos Space Marines (undivided) collection, which plays well and has a cool style. I will 'probably' end up just starting this over, but I'm not sure. I also had a large amount of Eldar I had yet to really experience, but I'm not sure I want to try again. I've spent time looking at armies, models and codices for Blood Angels, Space Wolves and Grey Knights, just to see if any appealed to me.

I am hesitant to play Grey Knights, just because of the codex-creep factor. Couple that with their ridiculous amount of psychic powers in a current edition that sports untold amounts of feth-with-psyker rules (Njal 3+ gogo) and I am very iffy. Blood Angels mech lists are hot, but that's about it. Space Wolves look tempting.

But what about just waiting? Necrons and Eldar are on the way, and right after that, supposedly 6th edition. A whole new game. Is now really the time for me to start a brand new fully decked collection or should I just bide my time?

Thoughts are appreciated.

The next three are expected to be Necrons, Sisters of Battle and Tau. Eldar might be one of the first 6th edition codices.

You could also see what Mantic does with their sci-fi game later this year.
