Subject: Brotherhood Champion and Heroic Sacrifice, any model?

Strange situation came up:
Squad of Grey Knight terminators led by a Brotherhood Champion was assaulting some TH/SS terminators close to their Land Raider transport. The Brotherhood Champion moved into base contact with a Terminator Librarian in order to use Rapier Strike, but it failed to kill the Librarian at initiative 10, unfortunately. The Librarian was able to kill the Brotherhood Champion, who happened to be in base contact with the Land Raider as well as the Librarian. The Grey Knight player used Heroic Sacrifice to hit the Land Raider and remove it from the game as a casualty. Legit?
We were kind of reading the rule to intend that the Brotherhood Champion would drag down his killer, but could he simply smack any model he happens to be in base contact with? A Monolith, heck, a Phantom Titan?
Automatically Appended Next Post: I should probably take a look at the other posts, huh. Please ignore this as it has already been asked.

just wanted to Point out that the brotherhood Champ's assault move was illegal; he cannot multi-assault the librarian and the Land raider.

He could have assaulted the landraider the turn before, and still be in base contact.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

The Champion was assaulting the libby/unit.
it could have been legal if the BHC+termies declared assault on the Libby+Termies and the BHC couldn't get into base-to-base with any of the opposing unit, but could get within 2" of the GKtermie that first moved into the assault while simultaneously making it into base-tobase with the land raider(that would all require a Very specific situation though); then the Libby(who for whatever reason was not contacted by any of the GK termies) made his defenders react move to contact the BHC... but that is not the picture Oaka painted.

In moving into btb with the libby the BhC can base other models - you are not prevented from only basing one model, as long as you are not hte first assaulting model to move.

What Nos said, the rules on page 34 allow you to assault multiple units provided you follow the rules for assaulting and that the closest model is moved directly to the closest model in the assaulted unit. As long as the Brother Captain gets into base contact with the assaulted unit if possible (Librarian) and retains coherency, those are the only points that need to be addressed.

yeah; I didn't double-check the assault rules(like I should have), and was mistakenly thinking that assaulting multiple enemy units worked like the initial model assault moves(haven't actually read that portion of the BRB in months).
I was also applying the second bullet point in moving assaults to say "enemy models in the assaulted unit" as opposed to "Any Enemy models"
Oaka; The BHC didn't even have to get into contact with the libby(well he did for heroic Sacrifice, and couldn't hurt the Land raider otherwise); Just so long as he was within 2" of a friendly model that already moved, and in contact with an enemy model, he would be golden.
