Day 83
Added some brass/bronze to the Predator Turrets. Once dry, I’ll give the metallics a wash of Nuln Oil. I’ve also got Army Painter’s “Red Tone” wash, which I’m hoping will play nicely on the bronze and give it some real warmth.

The very most beautiful heat stress to me is that of welded stainless iron.
As the chemical components react to the heatw their is a certain spectrum of intensity and welding speed where it leaves a trail of blue/gold/purple/pink colours. Sometimes I'm almost disappointed I need to clean it not to induce later corrosion because it is just that smooth and harmoniously colourful.
However whenever you need to apply more heat or weld slowlier, it might burn and instead get a grey coat that is less than appealing to the eye
Passionate welder's remebelling sorry.
I do love painting heat stress on my models a lot though!

Day 84
All Predator hulls done to the same level.
Letting these two dry, then it’s time to break out the Nuln Oil. From there it’s general tidy up. Then the Inevitable Red, followed by fancy stuff like “glow” on the plasma and Volkite.

Day 85
Washes down. Once dry, I’ll do the same on the tracks. Hoping to get the reds complete this evening. But the weapon effects are likely a tomorrow job now.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh arse. Now I realise what’s been irking me.
I need to do metallics on the wheels. And the bottom of the exhaust stacks.

That’s better.
Picked out the wheels, track teeth and pipes on the exhaust stacks. Appointment next, then back home for dinner and more painting.

Built from the same plastic kit as the Deimos Vindicator.
I’ve favoured high-tech weapons for my Dark Angels, as being the best equipped Legion it seems fitting.
It’s quite fun to paint, too.

Day 87
And the Vinidcator has been ink washed (gaaaaawd bless Nuln Oil) and the first red done.
Had been dreading painting this one, but it’s turning out pretty well.

Impressive, very impressive.
As we roll into the end of March, that’s a quarter of the year down. Is the Pile of Shame going to be able to sustain this pace? Got a plan/outline for Q2?

Yup! Three boxes of Astartes Support, two boxes of Spartans, and a fourth box of Astartes Infantry.
Most of that is built, with just Support and Infantry to go.
I’m also picking up two sets of ruins on 6 April, supporting my friend’s FLGS. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and a big box of Civitas Imperialis from Goblin Gaming, who have five in stock. Because if I’m to encourage the game locally, it’ll help to be able to populate a board.
Might also think about making some classic Epic terrain. I’ve got the old Battles Book which has stuff like how to make scale barbed wire and bunkers etc. I figure a modicum of rescaling and they should still work.
Hopefully a mix of commercially available terrain and home made will attract interest!

Honestly, you must have a lot of mental strength to be able to build all those contemptors... I built mine today and putting together the legs into the ball joints was painful. Great looking army showcase too!

I’ve not done owt fancy with them.
The Deredeo are probably my favourite build, as the legs have set positions in the mould, which for more adventurous folk are easily removed.
Trick I found with Contemptors is to glue the feet in last. Make sure the legs themselves are well set glue wise. Then glue them to the hip assemble. Plonk that sub-assemble onto the feet to help with positioning, and once happy leave the combined legs and hip assembly to properly set. Then glue the feets in to the ankle joints and the base.

Day 89
Been oot and aboot on Good Friday, so not a big day for Hobby. Got five more Assault Marines assembled.
4 with Volkite Serpenta, and 1 with Power Sword. Bit of a pain WYSIWYG wise, as the Combat Shields are a straight upgrade, but carried in the left hand - which means I can’t normally equip pistols to the models. Even though they still have them.
Hence the Serpentas don’t have Combat Shields. I figured my opponent being able to clock the Danger Pistols clearly trumps the WYSIWYG of the shield.

Laying on the Nuln Oil. Now need to await the drying, then do the underside of the tracks, and anywhere else I’ve missed.
Once that’s dry, some coppery brass tones on the main gun and what I assume are capacitators.
