im developing some fluff for my =I= warband and one of the members i imagined being a female who was fed space marine blood by some obscure imperial cult. When she was a child she underwent these rituals and was one of the few to actually survive. not actually a fully fledged marine biologically speaking, she is 220 cm tall and has some enlarged features. statwise i would give her a slight edge but not nearly as powerfull as a marine in any sense.
plausible or not?

I like the fluff but I think that would be herrasy as they would have had to kill the space marine first.

Or they could have gathered blood from a battlefield.
Preserved Astartes blood is, I think, described as an EXTREMELY valuable relic in Dark Heresy... and incredibly hazardous to one's health.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

I'm not so sure that would work. and even if they got the SM blood nonlethally (not really sure how), the whole process would probably be considered Heresy anyway.

Space marine blood wouldn't really do much if drunk, it could be poisonous. Even if you gave someone a transfusion it may only be able to give a slight healing benifit if it didn't kill the person first.
It wouldn't create a hybrid as that isn't how hybids are formed and it wouldn't make a super human as the process of making a space marine is based on the organs and the supplements to the diet. Without these the process wouldn't work.
basically if you drink wolf blood you don't turn into a werewolf, your just a wierdo cultist.

I would have thought that spilt space marine blood would rapidly dry and clot unless preserved properly, making the battlefield option a bit hard

The fact that its heresy i kinda knew and yes, poisonous too, but the time of miracles are surely not over and a strong faith in the god emperor has been known to result in miracles. Mabye a blood transfusion would be more plausible but not as ritualistic and insane.
As for the cult: They originate from a world that was ravaged by chaos for centuries before the blood angels arrived to liberate it. The cult took the iconography of the marines a bit too seriously and offered tribute to their liberators by gathering their blood of the field of battle and giving it to their children hoping to gain the gods blessing. naturally the children died horribly but a single exeptional individual survived. She was found by the Inquisition after the war was over and hidden by a radical seeking to study her unusual state and possibly glean the secret to using the blood of the astrates for other, even more radical purposes.

Marines blood is probably very toxic considering it's chemical content.
The blood type is also different from that of any other human.

As the GM for an ongoing Dark Heresy game, I live and breathe Inquisitorial stuff and Things to Kill Player-Characters With.
IMO, the character you've described sounds better in the hands of a Here-tek Mechanicus cell rather than some knob-headed peasants who fell to worship the Blood Angels. Here-Tek Mechanicus could have access to all sorts of strange and nifty Magos Biologis implants, chemicals, genetic modifications, jimcracks and geegaws to stick inside a host subject.
No weird miracle or puzzling out the viability of reconstituted Astartes blood required.... Mechanicus cell gets its hands (power-hands) on some Astartes gene-seed or the organs implanted in Marines (probably from this battle-zone you've mentioned), culls from them the necessary cells, and creates some sort of new, fem-usable form of Astartes blood.
Technological heresy of the highest order, to be sure, but just the sort of thing the right kind of radical Inquisitor would keep in his retinue.

I really see this one happening considering what enigmas like Fabius Bile achieved, but i find the misguided faith to be much more ironic. perhaps a mix of the 2: the cult that seek to bless their young with the "children of the holy ones" and seek out some... less then moral Biologis to jump start their own little "miracle". Of course they would be sorely disappointed as they present this wonder to the marines.

The main protagonist (Priad) in Brothers of the Snake uses his own blood for a transfusion into a normal woman to stop her dying from radiation. It increases her lifespan and makes her infertile, but does make her vomit profusely for a short period of time (and i believe she falls asleep as well IIRC)

As a Dark Heresy GM I've probably let my group get away with way to much gak. They are radicals to the extreme except when it comes to daemons. For instance I give you, Fluffy the lobotomized carnifex. Mind you they constantly have to hide the beast from proper imperial authorities, but it has proven quite valuable. Anyway, my point is to be a good GM sometimes you got to break a few rules because its all about having fun. Also we're in the future with psychics and sorcery. Hell one of my players started as a guy but a Daemon of tzeench changed his gender.

Heh, I constantly tempt my player with the chance to become Heretics (their Inquisitor is... well, rather pious. Not Monodominant, but definitely *not* Radical)... but, so far, they have resisted...
More or less.
The Adept, in his Ascension to Sage, has developed psychic powers... unfortunately, they're on a year-long jaunt across the Koronus Expanse, and won't see a Black Ship anywhere out here. The Inquisitor needs the Sage, but also really, really thinks some Sanctioning is in order.
The rest of the party? They don't know what's going on, but they haven't seen that Adept in a while...

Actually i think it's the radiation that makes her infertile...
There was a lot of it.
The blood could easily differ from chapter to chapter as well as the effects differing from perosn to person.
In short it's a bad idea to try it...

My bad, it was the radiation
im with you on there being differences between Chapters and subjects, but i meant it could be done. Note that i agree with you and dont think its a good idea, SM's are selected from very specific criteria and by no means do all of them survive the transformation.
