My friends Tyranids were fearless when I tank shocked them with a deff rolla.
Rules state that they "Let the tank pass by".
Does this mean they would avoid the deff rolla as well as the tank shock?

Nope, they take the hits.
Of course the other options is Death or Glory! which causes 2d6 hits. . . .

If the unit chooses to DoG it takes a further D6 hits, making 2D6 hits in total
Its in the Deffrolla rules...

Page 55 of the Ork codex, last sentence under Deff Rolla. It's also in the FAQ here, the second question.
