Well I've got six games under my belt with Grey Knights and it's time to offer some tentative observations. First, a quick summary of the games.
The list I'm playing at 1750 is:
HQ
Crowe

Troops
5 purifiers (x2 pyscannon, x2 halberds, daemonhammer) in pysbolt razorback w/ dozer blade, searchlight
5 purifiers (x2 pyscannon, x3 halberds) in pysbolt razorback w/ dozer blade
5 purifiers (x2 pyscannon, x3 halberds) in pysbolt razorback w/ dozer blade
5 purifiers (x2 pyscannon, x3 halberds) in pysbolt razorback
5 purifiers (x2 pyscannon, x3 halberds) in pysbolt razorback
5 purifiers (x2 pyscannon, x3 halberds) in pysbolt razorback

Heavy
x3 psybolt riflemen dreads

Game 1 vs. Blood Angels
His list (roughly): librarian, 4 las/plas razorbacks with assault squads, x3 ass/laz cannon predators, x3 multi-melta bike squads (1 has a pries). I think he may have had a few more tanks but I forget.

Game summary: 5 objectives, spearhead. Blood Angels got first turn, the objectives were placed (poorly on my part) mostly in the middle of the table. Pretty open table except for one piece of LOS blocking terrain on my left. I reserve everything. He consolidates on the objectives in the middle, sends his bike squads turbo-boosting and I come on relatively piece-meal to be destroyed. First game playing MEQ and a learning experience. Loss for the Knights.

Game 2 vs. Dark Eldar
His list (roughly): gakloads of venoms with trueborn, a haemonculi with a portal, x2 units of beasts, 3 ravagers, couple more raiders.

Gamer summary: dawn of war, kill points. DE go first. Portal gets deployed in the middle of the table. I drive everything on first turn and the game does not go well for the DE. Waaaay too much S6, S7, S8 shooting for his army. It's not a stomp, though, but the Knights win comfortably.

Game 3 vs. Chaos Marines
His list: x2 land raiders, x2 termicide squads, x3 three strong oblits (yikes), rhino, x3 marine squads, daemonprince with wings/lash.

Game summary: spearhead, five objectives. Objectives are spread out a bit more. I got first turn and consolidated in the middle of the table. Dreads popped rhino early on and the oblits were force-weaponed into oblivion (a deployment error of my opponent perhaps to get them anywhere near the purifiers). The daemonprince killed a decent amount before being pys-cannoned back to the warp. A tough game but ultimately my six scoring units give me the edge in this particular game and I win 2 to 1 on objectives.

Game 4 vs. Blood Angels (a rematch of game 1)

Game summary: pitched battle, five objectives (again!). The table was dominated by a lovely Fortress of Redemption which was diagonally off-center. I had first turn and was able to use the fortress's LOS blocking to my advantage. I focused on three objectives which were roughly on my side of the fortress. The BA had to split his forces and game damn close turning my flank. However, I ended up with the win, 2 objectives to 1.

Game 5 vs. Imperial Guard
His list: x2 hydra, x3 vendetta (2 with passengers), manticore, Leman Russ execution, 3-4 chimera with guys, astropath

Game summary: pitched battle, kill points. I went first and my opponent reserved everything. This allowed me to get control of the middle of the table and position my dreads to cover the table entirely. Crucially as well, Crowe got two turns of movement/running behind a rhino and shielded by a large building. Turn three and four were slugfests but I gradually pulled ahead. Crowe was able to get into combat and wiped two squads. Ouch. The vendettas dropped 1 dread and immobilized another one that was facing my back table edge (thus taking it out effectively) but eventually the psycannons and the remaining dread took them down. I won a close match.

Game 6 vs. Blood Angels
His list: x2 land raiders, mephiston, ass. cannon razorback, 10 man assault squad, 8 strong death company with chaplain, 5 terminators.

Game summary: 2 objectives, pitched battle. Blood angels got first turn and I reserved everything. He rushed everything at my objective, but I had good reserve rolls and brought in 2/3rds of my army, but not crowe. I was able to use a dread as bait and for mephiston and got crowe in the turn after Mephiston killed the dread. Crowe assaulted, died, but took Mephiston with him. Couldn't kill the land raiders, but my opponent disembarked the death company a bit early perhaps and I was able to shoot the hell out of them and then wipe them with an assault. Took the win.

Thoughts:

Five wins and one loss--I'll take it.
1. Faced four land raiders and one leman russ over the course of these six games. Couldn't kill any of them. Lacking melta suuuucks.
2. My local scene is dominated by low troop count armies and my six troop units come in handy for objective missions.
3. psychic hoods shut down GK powers about 1/2 the time (usually LD10 vs. GK's 9); hoods will be mandatory additions to armies.
4. Haven't played Space Wolves yet but I suspect I'd struggle. Long Fangs win vs. Dreads I think and I'll have a hard time reaching the back table edge in most games.
5. Crowe sucks but he can babysit dreads effectively and depending on the terrain a rhino will protect him from most shooting.
6. Halberds are lovely. They hurt MEQ bad.

Who would you say were your toughest opponents (army, not general wise) and why?

Blood angels have been the toughest. Hooding me, great assault units, and good shooting too.

Nice. Keep them coming.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

Thanks for the post.

You played 2 Kill Point missions, one against DE which your army will shred, and against Mech IG. I think you might have lost if your IG opponent won the dice roll to go first, but that is the nature of an alpha strike IG army. I would like to see how your army does in KP missions against more mainstream (MEQ) lists.

Your army’s weakness is killing AV14 and 2+ saves. I was surprised that you killed the oblits with force weapons. They should have been on the back table edge shooting 9 lascannons a turn.

re: the oblits. The deployment worked in my favor. Basically I put him in the table corner with terrible terrain for oblits. A huge single-story no roof ruin blocking los and cutting terrible angles. He really couldn't deploy any of his oblits with shots from the start unless they were close. The other choice was two turns of movement to get shots. He deep struck one unit and rolled a terrible scatter. Perhaps he should have walked them on from reserve.

As for the IG, of course you're right. Roll to see who wins/goes first!

The purifier spam list has no dynamism. This is a problem--there are no suicide koptas, wolf scouts, or anything like that. I think it may be well worth it to drop a squad and a dreadnought to add something like a teleporting dreadknight or something.
