Hey guys! So, the Easter bunny is almost here so that means (for me) gift cards. I have been contemplating buying Portal 2 but I just had an awesome idea...

So: in my army I need two hydras and I don't really want to buy two chimeras and convert or buy the FW version, but I do love FW elysians! What I was thinking of doing was getting two FW Taurus venators and taking the lascannons off (giving me two more TL Lascannons for my vendetta!) and sticking on the Aegis defense line quad gun barrels. In my head it would all work out perfectly, but I'd like to know your opinions on how it would look (IMO good), if it would be WYSIWYG (I think it's about the size of a chimera.) and where I can get some quad guns (my friend loves the aegis defense line and he wants to get one so I may be able to beg them off him, or trade.) I'll post later if I'm allowed to order the stuff from FW because at the moment I have no 40k savings left...

The Taurus Venator is a great model, and i can definitely see a quad autocannon version being fielded by elysians, but:
- for WYSIWYG you'd need to add some armour to make it more believably count-as a Chimera chassis
- I doubt you could just stick autocannons on the front of the Venator turret, I suspect you'd need a full replacement turret. That could actually look pretty cool - i'm thinking something like the WW2 US M16 quad machine gun halftrack - but may be a lot of work.

i think it wouldn't take to much modeling, i just stick the two twin linked assault cannons in the place where the lascannons or multilasers should go, but i may have to seperate the guns and bring the closer together. There seems to be enough room, althiough i couldn't find a reference picture for the individual quad guns. (thanks to TheMaXX for the picture.) i might make a plexiglass windscreen and an armoured top. i might look in some other model shops for maybe some tamiya guns to use as autocannons. maybe even heavy stubbers could work?

I think it could be done very easily if that's what you want to do. The Aegis guns might be to big to go on the Tauros turret but you could just use the Aegis turret like on that Hydra pic. The only thing not wysiwyg then is that the vehicle looks open topped. Armor in the crew compartment (and add on a heavy bolter) and I'd totally buy it.

Alternatively you could put THIS on there and look good. The guns would be undersize by 40K standards, but wouldn't look too big and top-heavy on that chassis

Hmm, i could make my own autocannons. i found this http://www.terragenesis.co.uk/infopages/page452.html tutorial, and i think it's awesome. I agree that the aegis guns might be a bit oversized, so i'll look into that. i did state though that i would add a windscreen and top armour to the buggy, i might attempt to make a passenger seat but failing that i'll mount a heavy stubber somewhere the driver can use it. Gawd, i can't wait 'till i order these things!
