Hi all, I have been setting up a local gaming club, and the majority of our member wish to amend many aspects about 40k to make the game more in line with various other wargames we play. My question is if we do make these rules are we allowed to post them online? I know and understand that GW protects its interests. Perhaps we should just invent our own sci-fi based game? Anyway I'm interested to here what the dakka dakka community has to say on this.

There's a lot of legal wiggle-room when it comes to IP infringement. There's lots of fan-created stuff online that's meant to be used with 40k.
Don't include any existing rules or background material and you can print whatever else you want.
You can say "Instead of the rules for exploding transports on pg X, we'll do <whatever>".
|
"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."
This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Game rules in general aren't copy writable. Don't include any GW text or images and you'll be fine.
