I tried doing a search for "Servo Skulls" , "ServoSkulls" , "Orbital Strike Relay" & "OSR" and nothing popped up, so I'm sorry if this is a repost! If it is, can somebody toss me the link so I can read the last thread?

Orbital Strike Relay, page 58 "Each time the orbital strike relay is used, you must choose which kind of strike you wish to call down. Note that ortibal strikes ALWAYS SCATTER THE FULL 2D6" IN THE DIRECTION SHOWN)..."

Servo Skulls, page 62 "...likewise, friendly blast templates placed within 12" of a Servo-skull roll one d6 less for scatter."

So would this combo work? Would the OSR only scatter d6" since it's considered a friendly blast template?

Thank you lolcanoe

edit: read that entire last thread, looks like no solid conclusion was made... can a mod close this thread to ensure that same argument doesn't get recycled?

Looks like i'll discuss with all opponents ahead of time before facing them and wait for the FAQ

Thanks all!

From the way i see it (being a non GK player) it sounds like the SS does reduce the OSR scatter by 1D6. I can see why people don't want that. i am afraid of it also. All the people arguing that it the SS does not give reduced scatter were saying that "always scatters the full 2D6" is more important than "reduce scatter for friendly blast". They seem to not be in contention. would you not assume scatter full 2D6 and then if in 12" of a SS reduce the scatter by 1D6 to follow both rules and not break either?
On a side note they mention that the NFW falcons give +2 attacks sarcastically. I see no reason why that isn't true. Is that not how it works? They made it sound like it didn't work that way. I am reading the codex and the brb now and it seems that it does give +2 attacks.
I admit i am newer to war hammer than others on here, but i can read and impartially make decisions. (i say impartially because i haven't even picked an army yet. i play with proxy completely and only bought all the books so far) as of now i am leaning toward IG and that would be really nasty to IG. so its kinda in my best interest to not agree with the grey knight players, but that wouldn't be fair. I do really hope that GWS does something on this and other subjects that come up on this site. these seem like things that if someone from GWS came out and said "ss always reduce blast by 1D6 even osr" it would end the discussion. why dont they do that on all the debated rules that come up?

You are breaking the rule of "always scattering the full 2D6" if you don't scatter the full 2D6.

In my local gaming group, I'm usually the one playing GKs, and I'm still on the side of RAW SS not affecting OSR. However, I'm open to the FAQ changing this. That said, this is a very clear case of Specific > General, and until an FAQ comes out, I will follow the RAW.

Unless a FAQ changes the rule, "ALWAYS" will mean always, so no modifiers.

It's possible that they wanted the "always" to imply 2d6 regardless of LOS or not, but we can never know what they were thinking and it isn't written that way.

Always means always, unless specifically overridden. For an example of how specific works, see the Karamazov entry

I play GK, and I dont think it scatters 1D6. You should be careful in assigning motives behind peoples rules interpretations.
