Hello guys

I hope firstly I have the right section for this!

I bought a Circle Oroboros warpack and got to play a few demo games today which I really enjoyed!!

I would like to expand my collection a bit within the Circle as Im sure it's the faction I want to play.

What purchases would you recommend to a new circle player?

ALSO apparently I get "11 points worth" of models in the starter pack, many games at my local games evening club are played at the 15 point level, what model/models could I purchase to fill in the 4 point gap!

many thanks in advance

Starter pack has:

Kaya +6 warbeast points
Argus 4 points
Argus 4 points
Feral Warpwolf 9 points

Total of 11 points, as you said.

What sort of games do they play at your local club? Are they Tooth and Claw? If so, that means you can only take warbeasts and your warlock.

However, if it's simply 15 points of anything, then you could pick up a basic unit of Wolves of Orboros - they're some of our cheapest infantry, at 4 points for six guys, 6 points for the full unit of ten. Alternatively, you can drop one of your Argii, pick up another heavy warbeast, and then fill in the remaining points with solos.

For a single model to fill in the gap, look at the Lord of the Feast - I believe he's 4 points. He can wreck infantry units due to his abilities.

Circle Orboros is a little hard to recommend purchases for when you're just starting out, because they do have a lot of useful/utility units and warbeasts, as well as some good solos. Is there anything in particular that catches your eye? Are you looking to *avoid* anything in the faction? I know that there's often a split between the "furry warbeast" players and the construct players.

are you thinking beasts or can you go units and solos?

a Pureblood Warpwolf is a good buy (maybe retire one argus?)...as well as a Lord of the Feast solo its 4 points

Hey, I just met you,
and this is crazy,
but I'm a demon,
possess you, maybe?

lord of the feast or Blackclad Wayfarer or Wolf Lord Morraig dont know there point costs but i am pretty sure they are all around 4 points. Also i suggested them for you cause the models look amazing

thanks very much for the responses guys, I shall be taking a peek at all of those! although it seems from all 3 posts that a lord of the feast is an essential purchase!

My local club is very flexible, as long as it's to points and legal they dont mind!

Im pretty open to beasties and basically anything, I just want to try lots out and have fun!

But right now anything thats 4 points or less and fits in with the starter theme.

When I have more cash I intend to dump alot of it into the good old circle

I suggest a unit of shifting stones for two points, they'll see a lot of use with most warlocks across all point levels.

For the other two points a blackclad wayfarer or wilder the former is stronger at lower point levels the later at larger ones, but neither will see the same frequency of use as you move on to other warlocks and points levels as the shifting stones will. So, just pick which ever one looks more fun to use until you're able to say which one one definitely be better to use. Alternatively get the UA for the shifting stones, stone keeper, and just run a 14 point list.

As for the third purchase a gorax, I'd ditch an argus for one as soon as you can. The str/mat bonus from the animus is powerful, the auto frenzy manageable, and 4 fury on a light beast is a nice resource.

Lord of the Feast is great, and I'd say definitely worth purchasing once you move up to the 25 point level, at 15 your opponents can't really make it worth it to use.

Gorax, Lord of the Feast, Shifting Stones. These are the three best utility pieces for Circle. I'd also get a unit of something else and go from there. Gatorman Posse is a good unit for circle along with the druids.

Warpwolf Stalker and Druids with the UA. Stalker has survivability thanks to stealth, provides hit-and-run crowd-control from berserk and lightning strike, and can assassinate with a bit of help thanks to reach and pathfinder. Druids provide magic protection and give you the ability to move your opponent's models during your turn, which is one of the most powerful abilities in the game.

But yeah, LotF and rocks are very good too. With a nearby argus, the Lord of the Feast can AD within the range of the stones' teleport, and have a 32"-34" threat range for his 360-degree attack after being teleported forward and shooting the bird 10" on the first turn. Solid. People get wise to it quick, but it's one of those things you just have to deal with.

Gorax is a great FURY battery but don't expect much combat output from him.

Lord of the feast is good, but mainly for taking out infantry. If you're only playing small games it's probably not worht putting in your list. Shifting stones are essential in any list as their possibilities are endless. An absolutely amazing unit are Tharn Bloodtrackers, they throw power 9 javelins a 7" range, have weapon master, which meens they get an extra damage die with them. And extra to that, they specify a unit or model as their prey, and get +2 to attack and damage rolls against it (and a bit of extra movement if they're close to it). For only 5 points they are insane, oh yeh, and stealth, advanced deployment and pathfinder. Prioritise this unit.

oo they sound good to and thanks for the continuing advice!

my circle has taken backseat to Cryx recently as I managed to pick up some very cheap bits for them!

but I will have some free money soon so it looks like my list will be:
lord of le feast
tharn bloodtrackers
shifting stones
and a gorax

then Il prob leave it for a while and see how I get on!

For small games, I would do best to focus on the caster you have. Kaya isn't going to be what all the warlocks play, but she does well with most all living beasts, and gets you into good habits of treating your warbeasts like precious gold, I find.

At the point level you're at, adding a Gorax to get to 15 isn't a bad idea. That rounds things ou, you get a great buff piece for those games and you get a beast you'll use at higher levels. In general, I think you may eventaully want to pick-up, in no particular order:
- Shifting Stones + UA
- Pureblood Warpwolf
- Warpwolf Stalker
- Druid Wilder
- Lord of the Feast
- Tharn Bloodtrackers + UA
- Druids of Orboros + UA

These are things that will work with pretty much any future warlock purchase. They might not be optimal, mind (I think you can skip Bloodtrackers with a few casters) but they work good with them until you feel you can get the thing that is more tailored to that warlock's playstyle.

Good warlocks after pKaya, IMHO:
- eKaya (works similar, similar beasts, similar tactics, remixed a bit and more power overall)
- Kromac (very different playstyle, but will pretty much play with most the same things, which makes him a great second warlock.)

Hope this helps to add to conversation and stuff.
