So yeah as the title suggests I'm looking for alternative models for Dark Eldar Beasts, specifically Khymera and Razorwings, because building 3 units of them with the metal GW models is impossibly expensive. They don't have to be GW models, but definitely prefer plastic if possible. The main catch is that I'm planning on doing my Dark Eldar as being more of a Corsair/Exodite force which means I'm trying to use and convert things so they aren't quite as evil and spiky looking (think Wood Elves rather than Dark Elves). Ignoring the non evil looking requirement the WoC Warhounds for Khymera and the LoTR Bat Swarms or Forgeworld Flying Rippers look like the best options. Other than that I haven't found much that looks good, so I'm very open to suggestions even if they are very out there. My only real requirement is that the Razorwings are flying (obviously) and the Khymera are some sort of aggressive looking four legged animal.

Thanks.

Hi there,

I use Kroot hounds as Khymerae and the Warmaster Dark Elf Hydra as a Razorwing Flock. The Hydra isn't flying, of course, but I like it because it looks just like a Kroot hound and has exactly five heads (for a 5 A, 5 W model, GW only gives you 4 birds for each flock base!).

WHFB Chaos Hounds and Dire Wolves make a great base for Khymera. Just add 'Gaunt arms above the shoulders and you're set. You can get the bits off eBay cheap, too.
