Well, what are you looking for from an army? Just because you're bored with Necron doesn't necessarily mean you should play guard.

I mean, what specifically don't you like about your current army, and what, specifically are you looking for from a new one?

I think if IG are catching your attention, then they are definitely the army for you. Invest in an army that interests you. The play style will inevitably come to you as you experiment with them.

You can't spell 'slaughter' without 'laughter'.
By the time they scream... It's too late.

First off, you should learn how to use the "shift" key on your keyboard Proper grammar goes a long way. After the codex, you should look into what sort of build you want - you said you wanted Elysians? In that case, it might be good to use them as veterans and field them in Valkyries for an aircav army.

I heard that IG is unbeatable when you use them right.
I also heard that if you don't like casualties - don't play as them.
They are losing men at high rate even if they are winning.

The Emperor doesn't have a GKs unshakable faith in the Emperor which is....basically himself?

No army is unbeatable - maybe against certain builds, but not objectively. Even the best Guard army can get shut down by infiltrators, deep striking flamers and melta guns, and any other dickery that can happen in-game.

The second part of your post is incredibly true though. I read a lot of BL books about the Guard before I started playing them and I was so pumped to use my army of badasses to fight the alien horrors of the universe - then I lost 30 men in an assault phase. Playing a veteran list like the one I suggested mitigates this since you've got a bunch of small units in vehicles, but big hordes of Guardsmen disappear quickly.

Seriously, learn to use the damn shift key...

You don't have to take massive losses in an IG army. You can build your army in such a way that you lose only a few squads even in a bad game.

That's the thing about IG-- how you design the list is even more important than in other armies, as it defines your playstyle.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Grammar is something you should work on since poorly written posts are a chore to sift through. To answer your question, I'll quote my own post from this very thread:
After the codex, you should look into what sort of build you want - you said you wanted Elysians? In that case, it might be good to use them as veterans and field them in Valkyries for an aircav army.

Read your codex, read this thread, reading comprehension, etc.

Ig is a really good army, and it can beat everything. Imo it is the best army together with GK, only of you can handle it right. Of you want, you can check my topics, in 2 years i have lost 5 times and have 1 draw... The rest is winning and i play every week at least 1 time. (watch the high points level, the newest)

don't think, you have to know it if you want to be a commander
2010-> IG losses:5, draws: 1, wins: a really lot of wins
2011 IG losses: 2, draws: 1 wins: 32
2012 losses: 8, draws: 0 wins: 15
