well. I wanna make my models look pretty. and then have a lot of them.but customized.
Or you know, make wings for my TWs. since GW doesn't feel like putting them in the battleforce kit.
Now, I'd craft this stuff out of GS or Kneadatite or something else, possibly layered on top of a GW bit, but I wouldn't be duping models, so nobody needs to throw the legals stuff at me. Maybe even some bases.
But I'm worried babout the quality. I've heard that the "instamold" and some other mold makers don't really give that much detail, so I'm probably going to go with the Silicone rubber mold making.
But I'm not sure what to do about the resin. I've heard that some resins are really not that good at holding detail. And I want detail.
Suggestions/Reccomendations?
Also, if able to give a product link, would much be appreciated.

Yeah, 'resin' is a very generic term these days, there are a zillion sorts and only some are suitable for casting.

What I'd like is a source for the sort that GW use for FineCast - i.e. something light and flexible - presuming it's usable for home casting...

I'd assume finecast resin would only be suitable for pressure injection casting like GW uses. Otherwise you know, they might actually lower the prices. And honestly, I'd perfer inflexibility. Sturdiness > Having to heat it up and bend it back into place because your case pressed it weird.

The primary difference between resins is whether it's an Epoxy resin or Urethane resin.

Urethanes are generally rigid and set quickly.

Resin casting can be fun. Enjoy. Just watch out for THE MINIATURE MODEL POLICE (TMMP). Casting resin can hold detail just fine. Check youtube for instructional videos. Bear in mind casting can be fairly expensive.

well what kind of wings do you want? if you want real wings with feathers it might be a little hard to re-create, but if your looking for a little bit more sci-fi you could use plastic card, cut out "techno-feathers" aka long pointy shapes, and glue them to you mini or to some sort of mechanical arm which you can attach to you mini
