I have an airbrush, but haven't had much luck with paint. Much of it clogs unless I really open it up. P3 paints work fairly well, but it's a bit too spendy the amount I end up wasting. I've tried Vallejo Model Color, and that didn't work too well for me.

Try Vallejo Model Air. It's formulated specially for airbrushes. You can thin it even more, I do using a liquitex airbrush thinning medium in a roughly 60:40 ratio of paint to additive and it still covers very well.

Vallejo Model Air is amazing for airbrushing, heck, even regular painting.

Most other paints need to be thinned before you can easily use them in an airbrush.

I find mixing regular GW paint or Vallejo Game Color paint in a 1:1 ratio with Future Floor Polish

It's kind of a modeler's secret. Many of the scale military modelers have been using it for decades.
It's basically a clear, thin acrylic medium that has a TON of uses in modeling.

For more info on using it, you can go here:http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html

Dilute Vallejo Model/Game color 2:1 (or 3:1) with water, add about 1/4 total volume slow dry medium.

Looks like I need to find myself some Model Air. The article on Future leaves my in awe of the greater modelling community.

When I tried water with the Model Color, it didn't dilute very well.

Try Tamiya paints + Tamiya Acrylic Thinner. You can't beat the price, its commonly available at most stores, and it works even better than Vallejo Model Air.

windex works fine in a pinch to dilute which is better than water. AB medium is preferred, but if you can't find it, windex will do.

I use GW, VGC, VMC, and VMA paints all with windex currently and they all work fine.

Yes, in a pinch, windex works well. A cheaper alternative that's also widely available is automotive windshield washer solution (the blue stuff) in a 4:1:1 ratio (paint:water:windshield solution)
