OK I am starting to increase my hobby expertise on painting and modeling but I need some help with what airbrus to get. I have heard that Tamiya has some amazing airbrushes while I was in Hong Kong but I have also heard that the Badger Co. Renegade Series is just as amazing if not better.

Thoughts?

Hmm I didn't know Tamiya even made an airbrush?

I think most would agree that the top of line airbrushes are Harder & Steenbeck and Iwata. ...there are many good ones though that will have a nicer price, like Paasche and Badger. The Paasche Talon is widely recommended on these forums.

If you have the money, IWATA does some fine airbrushes and compressors.

Tamiya brushes are rebranded IWATAs (am I wrong here?) IIRC.

I would look into investing into a decent compressor first. Nothing worse than having an expensive airbrush being fed by a lousy compressor which causes paint to splat due to condensation etc.

The renegade series gets consistently top reviews and is at a very modest price point. It is the one I'm planning to buy once the newly released Renegade Krome gets a little more available.

I purchased an Iwata HP-CS brush and Smartjet compressor a few months ago and I absolutely love them! The Eclipse is my first brush and it is very forgiving (like letting foundation paint dry in the cup over night.....only took 5 minutes to clean out) and the compressor is super quiet.....like fish tank filter pump quiet. Only draw back is its hard to find different size nozzles but I havent really looked that hard. Hope this helps!

I personally use a Paasche Talon and I love it to death. Perfect for this hobby.

Harder and Steenbeck are also worth looking into.

Both the infinity and evolution series are fantastic.

Master G44. Its alot more affordable, and you dont need to by the ferrari airbrush right out of the gate. The master g44 is what I use, and it does everything the Iwata I used to have did. Get a sensible brush, and then, when and if you learn to use it so well you exceed its threshhold- then a top end airbrush will actually be worth the expense.

Otherwise its like seeing that 85 year old guy with his dodge viper going 35 on the freeway.

I agree not to buy top of the line right out of the gate. A harder and steenbeck is not needed to learn. A Paasche Talon with 3 needles set runs about $80-90 on ebay.

So i decided to get a Paasche TG-3F SET "Talon" Gravity Feed Airbrush Set but I can not figure out what Compressor to get with it. I can not seem to find what PS I is acceptable for this airbrush.

I will be using P3 Formula and Citadel paints with this airbrush.

I use this compressor: http://www.harborfreight.com/1-8-eighth-hp-40-psi-oilless-airbrush-compressor-93657.html

You can use anything from 5-40 psi. it just depends on your preference.

Don't forget to thin your paints with airbrush medium or windex before spraying it.
