Deep in the Heart of Texas!!!

Okay, here is the scenario. I was watching a game at one of my local stores and one of the players moved one of his rhinos by moving forward, pivoting around a building and then proceeded to drive into an enemy unit of troops that were holding an objective. The other player then moved his troops out of the way and allowed the rhino to move past, and onto the objective. No leadership test was taken. The player with the rhino said that since he had moved, pivoted, moved, he could not do a tank shock, but that the opponent would still have to move out of the way for the vehicle. Shouldn't the vehicle have to remain 1" away from models to be a legal move since it was not a tank shock. I thought that this looked a little weird, but both players made it sound like this is how it is done. Let me know if I am missing something in the rules, or were these guys sniffing too much superglue. Thx.

"You call yourselves true warriors. With Your palaces and fountains. Your medals and parades? I grasped my first axe when I was still in my birth-caul. I earned my first wolfskin whin I was Still a whelp. I've been fighting every single day of my life, son. Perhaps you're today's challenge, eh?

No idea where they got that from. The only way to force them out of the way is with a tank shock. Otherwise, the vehicle is required to stop 1" away from them.

The tank shock should have still happened. Sounds like you stumbled upon a house rule.

No it shouldn't. A tank shock has to be declared. It doesn't just happen because you decided halfway through the vehicle's movement to run somebody over.

You also cannot move, pivot and THEN drive into the enemy. You have to pivot and move directly towards them, presumably through the building whic , if it actually were a building would be impassable.

yeah, those guys were either using a house rule or miss understood the rules. You have to declare a tank shock before moving, pivot, declare speed, and move straight at them with no other changes of direction allowed. else you have to stay 1" away.

I thought you could declare it but still pivot around obstacles and ramming was the one that had to go in a straight line with no turns.

In the thing above, I was assuming he declared the TS, too.

No. Both TS and Ram let you only move in a straight line. TS you specify a speed, and can travel slower than your maximum, with Ram you cannot.
