Greetings all, for those of you who know me my name is Alex and I am the owner of Battleroad Games and Hobbies LLC. Currently I am looking to hire on several new people into various roles and figured this was a great way to do it. As such I am looking for people for one of the following:
-Sculptors: I am looking for any number of these as I am growing very quickly. A person applying for freelance work for this should be able to create models or conversion bits from the ground up and is not somone who can just sculpt or convert somone elses models. We are very strick about not infringing upon any other companies IP rights.
-Artist: I have 2 freelance positions open for these positions as I already have several artist on hand. Applicants must either be proficient in graphic arts or sketch art. I am not looking for any painters sorry.
-Game testers: I am looking for several game testers to test and try out and give solid feedback on my companys miniatures games that we will be releasing in the comming months. People for this position must be able to work under strick guidelines and play several games a week and provide typed feedback weekly.
This is a great chance for some people to break into this industry a little more and get their work seen by thousands. I am growing at such a rate that I need good realiable people who can handle themselves as adults and finish their work under strick timetables. As such if you are interested or know of anyone who fit into one of these categories then please pm me for more details.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

Couple of questions.
1 - Can the playtesting be done remotely, I.E. where I live in northern NJ.
2 - Are you ok if we are currently playtesting games for other companies. I've run into this problem in the past and its caused considerable headaches.
Let me know if you want more information on experiance.

I am curious about the playtesting as well and if it can be remote. If so, what sort of hours (games) per week are needed?

1-Yes as the playtesters are paid a set sum.
2- No sorry, all of our people artist, playtesters so forth will be signing a non-disclosure agreement that will actually have it in there about not doing work for other companies in certain aspects. I.E the playtesters are a big no on that. Artist have ground they can easily work with, but our sculptors can't do work based on any of our products for other companies.

1 - Paid playtesting..... In all the times I've ever done this, this has never happened. Usually a mention in the rulebook and some free minis tend to be the going rate....
2 - I've never really understood the whole thought process behind this, to me it seems like shooting yourself in the foot. I know quite a few people in the industry and the amount of people in the industry that can pull a liveable wage out of one game system are the exception rather then the norm, most of the ones I know work for several different companies. Preventing people from doing this might dry up your supply of talent.
For me personally I work a real job, but I playtest on the side for both the knowledge that I had a hand in a game and my love of swag.
In my personal opinion it would be much easier and more conveniant for the people working under you to just limit who they can discuss the project with, with an appropriatly worded none compete clause.
Anyway, these are just my thoughts and experiances from prior projects. As always though I wish you the best of luck with your project and I look forward to seeing what it turns out to be.

Can I ask what type of style/aesthetic you are looking for when it comes to artists? If you'd prefer to tell me in PM, I'd understand.

I'd love to do either the artistry portion or the playtesting portion.
As with Revarien, I can PM you some of my work if you're interesting. I don't do graphic art though, I do sketches with ink

PMing me is your best bet. ATM I am packing a large amount of ebay orders, and then preping stuff for the brawl this weekend so I am only looking at dakka on the few seconds I have.....so much to do... maybe I should hire a personal assistant hrmm.
I can see the thought process in allowing people to do multiple games at once but since I am paying people for this (not a ton), and yes names will be mentioned and free minis, it is the belief that we should minimize exposure of it. I have one of the best law firms here in the commonwealth of mass behind me and my partners agree that we want to keep this in house with info releases near xmas.

Hypothetical situation:
You're playtesting 2 miniature skirmish games (one for Company A and on for Company B). You really like the HtH aesthetic of one, but don't like the other so much.
Without thinking about it, you make suggestions to Company A that they should "do something like this" with their combat. They like your idea, tweak their system, and it's a hit.
Skip forward to 6 months later, when Company A and Company B both release their games, only to find that their combat systems are exact duplicates of each other.
That would not end well.
So, by limiting you, the company is assuring that any advice you give is your own and not influenced by any yet unpublished game that they are unaware of.
