Hello everyone! I am excited making this post because When I first started The Gamesworkshop hobby when I was 15 I had a Chaos Space Marine army I wanted my army to be Iron warriors since i loved the scheme, but unfortunately being utterly terrible at painting and not knowing to water down my paints, my marines were chunky, the colors weren't right at all it was just.... a mess haha. Well now after 4 years Im getting back into 40k and starting Chaos again, and guess what!? Im doing Iron warriors again, I believe my skill has greatly Improved since then in painting, So without further Ado I Present to you My 2nd attempt at an Iron Warrior
This time around Ive gotten a little creative with green stuff and made a spout of flame at the end of my flamer and also tried my first attempt at OSL on the barrel
I would also really like some ideas on what GW colors I should use on painting my base if thats okay, its pretty much just gonna be a ruined city scheme using slate from the 40k basing kit
Hope you enjoy C&C greatly appreciated!!!!!

I could be wrong, but don't iron warriors usually have like construction stripe things?
Anyways, not bad paint job. The trim could use another coat, but other than that, pretty good man.

I think the flames could use a bit of work on the sculpting. From 3 feet away, I could probably distinguish what it was but up close in the second picture it looks like a chicken head. But that just might be my special imagination. The scheme looks good. The gold on the backpack looks a bit thin, may need another coat. For the base i would do a drybrush of a lighter grey then it already is. Overall it looks good. Cheers for removing the mould lines, so many painters i've seen with them still on...myself included....

@ Lunarghost thankyou! haha and about the flames it was just a quick spur of the moment thing I just got some green stuff and cut some chunk out of it with my clippers haha. It may appear to not have enough layers of gold, but after I had finished I washed the gold with a bit of devlan mud to mute it down a bit
@JollyDevil you are indeed correct about the Caution Stripes, Since that part would probably take the longest for me, Im going to do them all at once when i finish my first squad and thankyou
Im literally facepalming at my terrible photography haha it really isnt doing the picture justice, dumb camera phone

Definitely coming along! I'd probably paint the guns black for contrast, but still paint the barrels and magazines silver. Also, you gotta have the caution stripes on their shoulderpads! That's half the reason for painting Iron Warriors!

@Brother SRM Thankyou sir! right now the gun is boltgun metal and a HEAVY wash of badab black so it is alot darker than the marine, but I'll still take ur advice on painting the barrel and magazing silver

A good thing to do (I can't tell if you are or not) is, after washing black, drybrush the model with Boltgun Metal. If you're a bit ginger with it, not only do you get some decent highlights, but it makes the armor look a bit worn. Here it is on some of my Iron Warriors:

I like the darker tone of these guys. This may be good practice for your steampunk army
