Subject: Couple of quick questions about IG

Hey all,
Played a game against a tank-heavy IG list with my footdar. The game ended as a draw, but left me with a couple of questions. (Didn't want to slow down the game by digging through his codex, and i don't have a copy on hand at the moment.)
1. Leman Russ squadrons.
Is there something "special" that allows the russes in a squadron to fire independently, or do they follow the normal squadron rules for shooting?
2. LR Exterminator
Does the Exterminator count as a TL Autocannon, 2 Autocannons or 2 TL Autocannons?
3. How many orders can you typically give a single squad?
Thanks

Well,
1) No, LR squadrons fire as a squadron.
2) LR Exterminator has the stats given on page 49, look em up. It is just one weapon.
3) I cannot find a limit on the number of orders a squad can receive, doesn't *necessarily* mean there is not one. Nevermind... see C:IG, pg. 29, top of column 2 of the box.

Junior Officer with Laspistol

1: No special rule, they fire like normal.
2: None. It is a unique weapon with its own stats. Although it is very similar to 2 TL autocannons.
3: A squad can only recieve a single order a turn.

No, they only have the special rule which allows them to fire the turret weapon in addition to its other guns. They have to fire all at the same target unit.

It is a single gun with a stat-line equivalent of 2 TL autocannons.

1, A unit that received an order cannot be ordered again, no matter if it succeeded or not. Note that if it fails his order then it can still act as normal later in the turn without the benefit of orders.

1) Nope, all must fire at the same target
2) If its the 4 shot twin linked cannon, it "counts as" an exterminator - it just happens to look a lot like an autocannon
3) 1, explicitly states that a squad that has been issued orders cannot do anything else.

1. No, standard squadron.
2. Effectively 2 Twin Linked Autocannons- but one weapon
3. The number of orders issued varies by the unit- see the entries for Platoon and Company Command for examples. A unit may only *recieve* 1 order.

1)Follow normal rules for shooting EXCEPT those specified by 'Lumbering Behemoth' rule. If it moved at combat speed it can fire the cannon in addition to another weapon. 2)None of the above. It is an exterminator autocannon. Profile is in the book. 3)Typically 1 or 2 but it depends on the commander, check their army page in the back of the codex. Under special rules it says 'Senior officer' or 'Junior Officer'. Some IC can issue orders too, so check their pages. EDIT- you can only give each squad 1 order per turn though.

I thought this was the case. It was a friendly game, so I didn't want to press the issue. (although if I had, it would have won me the game)

Again, I thought this was the case. Move! Move! Move! followed with Fire! Fire! Fire! seemed a little dodgy at the time.
Oh well, I'll know better next time
