Hi,

GameCraft Miniatures http://www.gamecraftminiatures.com/shopping/ creates cheap terrain for different scales (6mm, 1/144, 15mm, 20mm) and is recently expanding into the 28mm scale. The started two series:
Foamboard http://www.gamecraftminiatures.com/shopping/category/100-foam-board-series.aspx
and Plastic/Gothic http://www.gamecraftminiatures.com/shopping/category/108-modular-gothic-series.aspx . Here some examples:

Ruined City Building 13.50$:

Released today: Modular Gothic Series (each wall frame 6$, each set of 6 windows plus one door 6$):

Here an example of a Gothic 6mm building released recently to underline where their inspiration comes from

Still quite usable generic buildings for a tight budget.

Foamboard with separate resin windows and doors... interesting, but I'm not totally sold. The frames themselves could easily be made by anybody with some foamcore and an x-acto knife. The separate doors and windows will be really useful to scratchbuilders though.

While I like the durability of plastic terrain, the pricing on this stuff is pretty good. Definitely a viable alternative.

It's a neat concept but it's such a shameless copy of the 40k Basilica:

For about the same price (The one in the photo there has a $6 frame, 2 $6 window sets, and a $6 floor set), I couldn't recommend such a facsimile. It's not like there's any shortage of buildings out there to be inspired by!

Ah yes, the ruined basilica, another one of Games Workshop's original and innovative concepts not to be found anywhere else!

Why, is this a picture of them cleaning the original 3-ups?

Yeah. The UK already has original gothic and gothic revival buildings. It's not hard to find examples for space gothic.

Once again of course GW has created a market (40K IoM cities) and left a hole in the market (reasonably priced plastic kits.)

Pegasus do complete gothic kits so there probably isn't a lot of mileage competing directly between them and GW.

The separate doors and windows idea is something people have been asking for, so well done on that.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

A crappy terrain piece with too small windows, non functioning doors, and a bad tier system thats totally unsuited for fifth or any edition of gameplay. You know what I want to see? And what this terrain piece comes woefully close to pulling off?

One of these.

An actual, realistic, correctly sized, useful piece of a city that we could perhaps use in our sci fi game where space tanks with laser plasma canons roll around. I'm tired of fighting in roman ruins or bombed out 17th century germany with my genetically engineered space men.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Get a tier for every one of the floors on that first modular piece of terrain and I'm sold. It would be a great broken up modern tall glass cube that people live in. The factory on the same site is great.

ShumaGorath: Its foam board. This is totally within the realm of DIY. I've played in four different stores over the past three years, each of them had made their own foam board ruins.

Riddle me this: what has four sides, moves twelve inches, and moved fourteen?

Good looking stuff on a budget, whats not to love?

Nice job, there.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Agreed. Vast majority oft he market is either gothic or WWII like stuff. Oh, and a smattering of pulp scifi.

Some true near future scenery would be great. Ive seen some pics of great looking scifi scenery while researching Infinity...but I dont know if it was manufacturer stuff or home built.

The Microart buildings look ace and definitely something I'll be picking up. Full scale buildings that don't look like CoD.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
