The recent FAQ shows the following:

Q: If an Independent Character on a warbike joins
Snikrot’s unit before the game starts, can they still turn
up using the Ambush special rule? (p62)
A: Yes.

Does that mean the Independent Character has to have a warbike? So for example Ghazghkull and Grotsnik cannot join, but a warboss or big mek on bike can?

And if so... Why? I see nothing in the description of the warbike that says that they have infiltrate or outflank.

Does the question include "on a warbike" as if it is the determining factor?

I admit, I am mostly an ork player, and the idea of having Grotsnik's Power Klaw and Snikrot in a group of cyborked kommandos that feel no pain and are fearless coming in from any side of the table is totally wrong.... AND I WANTS IT!!

No, not at all. ANY Ork IC can join Snikrot.

Have a search....

I don't know why they specifically mention a "Warbike" other than probably a lot of emails to GW staff specifically about a Warboss on a Warbike. Maybe the reason "Warbike" was specified is because a Warbike is a different type of unit than Infantry, and there was confusion as to whether or not a Bike could infiltrate with them.

Regardless, any IC can infiltrate with him.

I get that part, I just wondered why they had worded it with the part about a IC on a warbike. I will just go with that being how the question was worded when it was sent to GW, and that any IC can join Snikrot and ambush.

Because I see no reason why only a biker would be able to. They have no special rules that separate them from another IC in this ability.

I do see why this was so debated though.

Having Grotsnik, Ghazgkull, Snikrot and 15 boyz (2 with Burnas) show up and charging potentially 18 inches from any table edge is really nasty, but probably not the best plan since it is like 600+ points for one big unit that you don't control beyond where they show up. And they could come in late.

If they show up early in a game with table corners though... especially against a ranged army list... They will push everything right into your other forces. Which for orks is where they want them to be.

You don't take Grotsnik, Ghaz, and a full squad of kommandos. Min squad of Kommandos, Snik, and Ghaz is all you need. If you've got points to spare I guess you could throw in Wazdakka or another Warboss.

I like taking a Warboss. Ghaz is to slow. I already played this way and it Helps a lot. If you take a group of Stormboys with Zagstruk and Snickrot with a Warboss. You can really blow your opponents mind when you are on their ass in 2 rounds anywhere on the board. I have taken out Land Raiders this way.
