http://news.sympatico.ctv.ca/world/phone-hacking_whistleblower_found_dead/171ee1b0 Claims of illegal eavesdropping, bribery and collusion hit at the heart of Britain's police on Monday with the rapid-fire resignations of two of its top officers. Police said Hoare's death at his home in England was not considered to be suspicious, according to Britain's Press Association news agency. Hoare was quoted by The New York Times as saying that phone-hacking was widely used and even encouraged at the News of the World tabloid under then-editor Andy Coulson. Coulson -- who most recently served as Prime Minister David Cameron's communications chief, was arrested as part of the widening investigation into phone hacking and police corruption.
...Huh? The guy exposes a huge news scandal, winds up dead in his home two weeks later, two of the top officers in the Metro Police resign almost immediately following the release of -this- story, and his death is labelled 'Not suspicious'!? And here I thought the RCMP was dirty. Discuss.

There might be positive evidence of a natural death. There needs to be evidence of a foul play.

It's very, very difficult to kill somebody without leaving some evidence of foul play. There are probably more mastermind assassins on TV than there are in real life.

Michael Clayton has probably the best 'corporate assassination' scene I can recall in a film.

Recently exposing criminal activities doesn't make you immune to natural death. Unless there is actually some proof of suspicious circumstances then it should be treated as a coincidence.

Depends which Police are investigating it. If its the Met then definitely its bent as a nine-bob note.

"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can't take part. You can't even passively take part. And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all" Mario Savio |

Hertfordshire Constabulary have jurisdiction. They aren't anything like as bad as the Met.
The Met are bungling dogmatised incompetents, some police forces still have some degree of professional standards. Watford police are fairly good.

Then we have a greater chance of there being a real investigation. Still looks extremely dodgy though, and TBH given the power that Murdoch has demonstrated over offices as high as the PM, how far can we really trust any British Police Force to be able to operate fairly on this?
