Colonel Gathen Klide, of the 23rd Fortrex Wyrens closed his eyes, the massacre unfolding around him to much to bare. The Skulltakers chaos space marines were in a blood frenzy, slaughtering guardsmen left and right while bellowing praise to khorn. Klide opened his eyes as a explosion of gore hit him, entrails and organs came on him like grotesque garlands. His men were dying, the explosion coming from a guardsmen who was hit by a direct auto cannon shell from a predator battle tank. He couldn't tell whose guts covered him, the body virtually shredded by the force of the blast. Sargent Miran, a close friend of his, leader of a veteran squad and hero of the battle of Kellmore, was on his knees soiling and weeping as a chaos space marine pulled out the contents of his abdomen with his bare hands. Two Skulltakers closed in on him and he immediately snapped into action. He shot the first in face with his bolt pistol and ducked as the second marine came in for a beheading strike. He closed into the bezerkers guard and skewered his power sword into the chaos marines chest.He pulled his sword free as he saw terminators cut his men to pieces with chain axes and lightning claws. One chaos marine literally picked a man up and ripped him vertically in half. A Leman Russ battle tank appeared out of one of the many grassy hills around them and pounded the marines with battle cannon fire, and let the guardsman get away from the terminators. At first it looked as if the ploy would work, but the predator appeared and blew the the turret off the Leman Russ and then proceeded to run over the fleeing guardsmen. Klide saw the terminators running as fast as there armor allowed towards him. Realizing that all his men were dead or were going to die he fled to the hillside He ran as fast as he could until he found a abandoned chimera transport. Several Skulltakers were nearby, but failed to notice him to intent on killing the men before them. He got into the chimera and remembering the training he received at officer academy started the engine and drove away.Around the chimera men were getting butchered but he kept driving. Several bezerkers got in his way but he simply ran them over. Nearby at the mountain highway which led to freedom out of this valley, was a commissar rallying surviving men, they had setup some barricades and were holding the Skulltakers off.They fired disciplined volleys into the horde of marines and screamed the righteousness of the Emperor. Seeing that those troops blocked the only way out of this hell hole Klide gunned the engine and drove through the traitor marines blocking the path. The commissar shouted 'Over here'!!! but Klide ignored him and battered through the first hastily made barricade. Realizing in cold terror what was about to happen he fired his bolt pistol at the chimera. 'In the name of the Emperor I command you to stop'!!!! He was in the way and Klide simply ran him over and any other guardsmen to close. Behind the chimera the dazed troops who got out of the way in time, were ripped apart by the Skulltakers a orgy of bloodshed. Miraculously the commissar had survived, only to be decapitated by a chain axe wielding psychopath. Klide didn't even look back to intent on getting on the highway, when suddenly the terminators appeared in front of him.Oh emperor No!!! Klide screamed as the lead terminator hit the front of the chimera so hard that it flipped over and everything suddenly went black. When he woke up Klide got out of the chimera a screaming bezerker came at him saying Kill! Maim! Burn! Kill! Maim! Burn! Kill! Ma- he never finished as Klide said 'Just shut up already'! and put a bolt in his head.'I thought Khorns warriors would fight more then they talk' What Klide didn't notice was that the Skulltakers surrounded him and heard every word. 'Oh gak' as he saw the burning psychopathic anger in every one of there eyes at such a insult to there chosen god. 'Well come on then, what are you waiting for'? 'KILL ME'!!!!! A light rain began to fall,the clouds overhead dark and threatening. Then with scream of rage the chaos space marines fell upon Klide and his last thought before he was torn apart by blades was how much of a coward he had been today.
