Is there a good cost-effective way for me to get four blasters into each squad?
Especially since each box only comes with one blaster.

The short answer is "no". I think they go for around 6-7 USD/each.

You can try converting some from shedders and disintegrater bits.

I used blast pistols & shredders to make more blasters.

@ AesSedai: I've seen them for closer to $1.50 on bitzbarn.com

If you are also using scourges, you'd get some more blasters as the scourges are more likely to use the weapons used exclusively by them... Otherwise I have no that good tip... But that's how I got four blasters.

The problem with using scourges is you only get 1 more...yes if it isn't being used and you are running scourges that helps a little but not much more. Personally I would go with the shredder and B.Pistol conversion if it works. (These come in the scourge box to!) If not I would just go with bitzbarn.

No, that is true. I however, loved the look of the scourges, so I bought two kits.

Just join the line with all other people hunting down these sought after expensive bitz, meanwhile reading all the other threads asking exactly the same question.

Yeah, I just glued on the Shredders and called them Blasters. Basically, any weapon that doesn't look like a Splinter Rifle. Blasters are almost impossible to get ahold of because every single DE player needs a boatload of them.

Guys, bitzbarn is not an option. It may seem like it's a good idea, but it is a pipedream. Every DE player needs/wants many blasters for their army, I myself have 14 blasters in my 1750 list. I have 4 currently, one from each box of kabalites. Bitzbarn has 0 in stock. They always have 0 in stock. They will have 0 in stock 9.75 times out of ten.

If you want blasters you can convert them.

If you want to buy some in any real quantity, try ebay. IIRC, they are going for around 6 USD each.

Take the blast pistols or blasters from reavers/scourges, slice the splinter rifle in half and attach the blaster barrel to the splinter rifle.

Credit goes to this guy http://www.40kforums.com/vb/showthread.php/29663-Blaster-s-Blaster-s-and-those-blasted-Blaster-s

A blaster and a blast pistol in each box of warriors give you 2 a box which is an improvement, you also get blast pistols in Wych boxes, You can also use the blasters on Reavers in the same way.

I like it better than the shedder + blast pistol conversion. Thanks for the link.

So many ways to get blasters.
I wonder why GW hast hit on the GENIUS idea of selling packs of five blasters.
I mean, they do it with melta and plasma guns!!

At that point I would say that the market has become stupidly over priced. I would make one from scratch and cast it in resin and have as many as I want. That's exactly what I did for my marine meltaguns.

Inside a pretty, pretty pain cave... won't you come inside?

Blast pistol and either splinter rifle or shredder base works fine. I also used the main barrel of disintegrators (cut the tip and body off) for slightly longer blasters. You get 3 per ravager and 1 per raider, so you should have plenty lying around. I have 18 now if I need them, never had to buy a bit, and plenty of blast pistols left over.

Skarboy, could you post a pic please. I've seen good attempts with disintigrators and less than good attempts.

ChaosDave, most people don't have the skill to scratchbuild convincing blasters. If it doesn't look good, it's not a good option for me.

I know a bunch of people are going to jump all over me for this, but this is the answer to every kit that doesn't contain all of the possible weapon options.

I have been trying my hand at making GK terminator psycannons this week. The results are not too bad.

The Art which Shall Not Be Named is the "best" way for people to solve the problem of blasters. I know this, you know this. However, I had both Reds8n and Yakface delete posts where I had simply posted photos of what appeared to be recasts. Tread cafefully with this subject as mods tend to be heavy handed on this topic.

The thread I mentioned is here:

Back in the UK and hating it

Another option if you plan on buying Scourges, is use the ones out of there - assuming you run a 10 man squad of those, you'll get 2 blasters over (blaster on scourges being a bad idea).

Only downside is they have bare arms, but if you can live with that then you're fine.

Here's some I made using the Scourge arms:
