Matt from MWG talking about prices of Games Workshop.

What do you think?

No, "It makes a funny noise" is not an excuse for punching a guardsman

Yeah, this came up during the price rise. It's very good and he presents a very good case. I doubt GW cares much, but having actual retailers complain about GW prices as opposed to some random Internet schmucks has a better chance of meaning anything.

He comes across as a professional rather than a raving lunatic. It's getting a lot of attention, and I would think that, if nothing else, would get some kind of notice around the Games Workshop water cooler.

It's a tragedy. In a hobby full of enthusiastic followers, GW continue to drive warhammer into the ground under the assumption that table top gaming will disspear within the next decade. The CEO's probably put profit and their own salary before the longevity, innovation and survival of the hobby.

Actually table top games have a very good chance to have a very good market despite the rise in computer and console games. Its called the cave man principle. And this directly relates to why peoples predictions about paperless offices and the end of board room meetings due to Teleconferencing, hasn't happened.

Its because humans need to interact face to face and always will. We need to feel we need to be close to gain a vibe and interpretations on the people we are dealing with. Yes mmo's and what not are addressing these things in certain ways. But at the end of the day id rather play a game in person withfriends. And thats why there should theoretically be a market for board games and warhammer in the future .

This is a well-articulated and semi-professionally done video, although investing in a tripod certainly wouldn't hurt.

I'd like to see similar responses from Maelstrom, Wayland, the Warstore, and Miniature Market. Maelstrom and Wayland must have been hurt particularly bad, since they must have been getting a lot of overseas sales for GW to embargo a good 5/6 of the world to the two retailers. And really, isn't the point of being an online retailer with fantastic shipping rates (or even nonexistant!) is to not sell to what is essentially your backyard.

We see a bit of this in Wayland's refusal to sell Finecost, but a personal, video response would be much more powerful. Deny it all they like, at least someone at GW has had to have seen Dave's video.

He actually used a tripod in the followup vid - if you haven't seen it yet, check that one out, too!

It's a sad day when companies go all luddite just because they fail to understand the ever changing market. I would like to see someone who actually knows something about their product at the head of GW. Its like all the video game companies that are run by businessmen not ex/current game designers. Those companies have, more than likely, put out terrible games and repeatedly shown they are out of touch with their players.

GW could learn something from small business owners like Matt.
